General / Byte Man's Webworks

When I first found out about the merger, I was a little miffed.  I mean, I cared about CJF, and to me, it was closing down.

Then, I thought, CJ's right.  Merging the boards due to lack of posting makes sense.  But still, something was off.

I realized that my other passion, D&D, could not be properly represented  on the Echo Network without detracting from some of the Sonic-ness.  I didn't want that to happen.

SO, I thought long and hard about what to do.  Then it hit me.  A companion site to the Echo Network, with an Affiliation to the Network.  It would allow for a wide array of members, a lot more interactivity, and it would represent more of the D&D v.3.5 spirit that I had come to embrace.

But what to call it?

How about...

General / MY sprite-based comic

CJ and Yami are always looking for new webcomics, so it's therefor no suprise that I decided to debut my first 4 efforts at Photoshopping a sprite-based comic called New Levels of Madness on HIS forum!  If Yami and CJ agree to, and if it's well enough recieved, not to mention if I can get more time, I will attempt to foray into it some more and slap some more Madness together for your XD'ing.

This has been a test of your attention spans.  Had you actually been paying attention, and you haven't already, you would be rushing to CJ's board to join up now.  That is all.

...but life intrudes again.

A while back, a friend of mine was in an auto accident in Mississippi.  She was supposed to be having already had surgery on her leg, but Hurricane Katrina prevented this.  Now, she needs me to drive her back home so her surgery can resume.

Consequently, I will be gone for a little while more.  Sorry for anyone this may inconvenience.  I will be flying home soon.

General / An idea for the board that might be cool...

I have a stupid Idea, just hear me out:

We've gone to the moderators and administrator of TPH for a lot lately, but seperately, we don't wield much authority.  We have almost no power as members only, and it seems that the mods and admin won't listen to us without more support.  Therefore, I propose having a council of three to represent the members of TPH.  With the council of Three, they would be able to go to the admin or any mod and be able to speak for all the members.  We would hear all complaints and ideas, discuss them amongst ourselves, and, if we feel it's worthy of mod or admin attention, we propose the idea to the forum management.  And, as members ourselves, we would wield more power than just going as we are now.

The above poll will run until Fri.  On Tue., I will review the results, and in the "About TPH" forum, I will start the nominations and vote tallying.  People will be elected by vote to a lifetime appointment, or until you decide to resign.  

Rules:

1) You must have a post count of 500 or more.

2) You must have been a member for six months or more.

3) You cannot nominate more than one person.

4) Once you make a nomination, you cannot change your mind, unless it's yourself you nominated.

5) All campaigning is to be done in the designated thread ONLY!  There will be no mention of it in other threads or forums.

6) NO SPAMMING IN THE CAMPAIGN THREAD!

I will listen to your comments and poll votes before I move any further.  Also, there will be NO NOMINATIONS until I have reviewed the poll results.  I think this could really help this board out, and we could have some real fun with this.  So sound off!  Waddaya think?

I thought that since most of us here RP, we should describe what we can do as our Online personas!  This may make the RP's more interesting in the future, so I'll start off, just to get the ball rolling.  And if it leads to an RP, well GREAT!!!!!

Name:Byte Man

Height: 5'8"

Alliance: Self (good)

Appearance: Similar to Proto Man, but his coloring is Blue and Grey, as opposed to the red, and his Bandana is red, Shield matches. Is also taller.

Creator: Dr. Cossak

The latest and greatest creation of Dr. Cossak, Byte Man was designed to emulate Proto Man in almost every way, with new robotic enhancements added in for maximum butt-whup. He was originally intended to be a prototype for a new line of Robo-Police, but a cloning accident rendered him instead as a "Bioroid", or a type of living machine. Dr. Cossak was quick to realize the implications of this, and taught his new "son" the ways of right and wrong. He is still considered one of the family, but has gone off to do his own thing, and has sworn to bring Wily to justice alongside his "cousins", Mega Man and Proto Man.

Primary Weapon: Byte Buster. This is similar to Mega Man and Proto Man's Charge Cannons, except it is slightly more powerful, and can charge one level higher.

Secondary Weapon: Byte Shield. Identical to Proto Man's shield in that it can deflect any energy attack, including Robot Master Weapons, the similarities end there. Hidden inside the shield's rim sit triranium blades that are 3" in length, and are laser sharpened to a point where the edges are no thicker than a molecule. This allows them to slice through any opponent, however, since it is a rather unwieldly weapon, it is usually used as a last resort.

Special Abilities: Enhanced Teleportation: 'Nuff said.
Weapons Copy: If you don't know this, you need to leave the internet and never return.

Dash Charge
Bio-cybernetic transmutation: This unique ability was another by-product of the cloning accident. Byte Man can, at will, transform into a human and back to a bioroid at will. In human mode, he looks almost identical to bioroid form. The call for both is Byte Man, Maximize!

Animal Companions: None on his own, however, Mega Man often allow him the uses of their robo-pets. The pet of Byte's choice is Tango the Cat.

Y'know, I'm actually pissed off right now, ang you all are the ones doing it to me.  Your letting this forum, the place I come to for escape, be ruined by constant flaming.  I leave for one day, and this place has gone to shit.  It seems as if the only people using their brains AND their hearts are Razel and myself.  The bullshit that's being posted now is brutal in the extreme.  It's so bad, you'd think Endtype's lifetime ban was lifted, and he'd joined forces with the PokeTard to ruin us.

All the flaming going on right now is bush-league.  It's like trying to shoot the movie "Star Wars: Episode III with nothing but one Hi-8 video camera.  We are better than this.  God, I miss the old days of this forum where Kas and Sophih would post about hawtness, Swift would declare a forum rp war, I'd cowbell anything in sight, and CJ and Yami'd bring the slapstick.  I'm trying to help, and I get flamed for it?  Where's the honor in that?

This is not the place for a flame war.  If you want that, click the link in my sig, or go to MySpace forums, where you can flame all you want and be accepted for it.  Not here.This is a forum for creativity.  For god's sake, this site in general was creative.  Where else are you gonna get video game soundtrack mp3's of THIS quality on the net?  Nowhere, because Protoman had a vision.  Truth be told, I hate none of you, but quite frankly, because of your all-too-willingness to flame lately, you all are making me sick again.

I don't want to leave.  When I needed to get away from life, you all welcomed me back with open arms and made me feel like I belonged.  I no longer feel that.  I feel as if my family is disentegrating into one big shitpile, and I gotta scoop it up.  I was gonna try harder to get my brother here, so I would have another friend online, and I thought you all might actually like him.  But seeing now what I do, I'm gonna tell him to sit on the Yu-Gi-Oh! forum he's at right now, the ultimate sin, because he's safer there than he is here.

This place was my sancuary, now, it's become my tomb, because I love this place too much to leave, and I am too sick of the bullshit to stay.  So until the flame wars are over, you can forget about me being a nice guy.  I've had it with trying to be a peacekeeper with a bunch of whiners who don't want to listen to a voice of reason.  You want me to be an asshole, so be it.  Welcome to the REAL nightmare.  A pissed-off Byte Man who doesn't care anymore about anyone or anything but himself.  You all want to try to flame people, welcome to what a flame REALLY is.

And if you can't see that, then you can't see me.

General / Ok, I tried to avoid this, I REALLY did...

...but the fact of the matter is this:  The more I read the posts in my last thread, coupled with certain things going on in my life, the more I was left with no choice but to sound off.  I can't sit idly by while people continue to get away with stuff life this without saying my peace, so here goes.

Now, I'm sure that everyone here will agree that there are people here who are annoying. (NMX comes to mind, but only at times)  However, there comes a point where n00b-pwning goes beyond putting a n00b in their place, and slandering/libeling someone who may or may not deserve it.  Last night, while I was out, such events occured, and imagine my frustration when once I got onto MSN today, and the very friend and person I look to for cheering up at the start of each day is crying to me.  TO ME!!!!!  I'm a very calm person, unless I am provoked, and this provoked me.  At first, I tried to ignore it, but it wouldn't go away from my brain, and finally, I had to say something.

Most here know that it takes a SHITLOAD to piss me off, but it happened excessively today.  It's a beautiful thing the internet provides us to slander people anonomously, but when you know the person, then it gets personal, and I come here to get AWAY from personal.  That's for real life, and MSN only, not here.  I am sick and tired of bullshit like this intruding on my life, attitude, friends and others.  Now I'm not so sure I WANT to bring my brother into here because of this crap!

So to cite recent example, Lazlo, I don't care what your personal opinions are of Kas, leave 'em out of here!  I don't want to see the flame war of sibling rivalry!  For god's sake, this is the very reason that PC took off!  I liked that guy, and now he's gone because your interactions around here are starting to become nothing but one big flame against your sister!  Man, when you start to get older, you'll begin to appreciate family values more than you do.  There were times I wished my brother was never born, but I love that guy to death, and he's turned out great!  You ever hear the phrase "Positivity yields a better crop than negativity?"  Trust me, it's true.

Now certain people deserve it. (That PokeMon freak and Endtype come to mind now.) But I think we need to keep it to them.  I hate coming on here and seeing friends, best friends of mine in flame wars with each other!  It makes me upset, angry and pissed off!  And when I get that way, it's funtime for NO ONE BUT ME[/b], as I will make someone's life a living hell.  I try to contain my anger, and I do it very well, but when stupid shit like this goes onn, it REALLY pisses me off!So, as a favor to me, in the future, keep this kind of shit away from my safe haven of enjoyment and fun, please!  I consider ALL of you friends, (yes, even NMX, for some unfathomable reason) and would see this place as a place of fun and escapism.  Remember, the best mods and admins are the ones who police themselves.

This also goes for everybody, not just Laz.  He was just a recent example I was using, so Laz, don't think I was singling you out, yours was just the straw that broke the camel's back.  Now that I've vented, I feel better.

Thanks for listening guys, I really neede to get that out of me.

Starting Fri., and extending after the New Year, I will be on only sporadically, and only for brief intervals.  This, unfortunately, means I will also be off MSN and Yahoo as well.So if I don't get a chance to say it by then, Merry fuggin' Christmas, (or whatever) and a Happy New Year!  (again, or whatever.)
