General Music / Music credits for Tetris DS?
« on: August 16, 2006, 08:12:31 pm »
Can someone with a DS and Tetris DS tell me who is credited for the game's music?  I have a gamerip of Tetris DS without any tags and would like to know.  Thanks in advance.

Music / UPDATE [2006.08.14]
« on: August 14, 2006, 06:55:42 pm »
Well, the orchestra doesn't move; only Tommy Tallarico, Jack Wall, and their supporting team move from place/orchestra to place/orchestra.  The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has a very good reputation, and as far as I could tell, the only things remotely out of tune were a few of the vocals and one or two mistaken strokes from the pianist.  My main disappointment with the concert was some of the arrangements, Zelda in particular, for being overly repetitive and basically only covering the main overworld theme.

Music / UPDATE [2006.08.14]

Surprise, surprise!  I know there hasn't been an update in a long time, but now I present my recording of Video Games Live from August 12 at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis.  The recording was done from my Zen Vision:M's mic, and was converted to MP3 from IMA ADPCM 16KHz waves.

There are seventeen tracks total, not counting Classic Arcade Medley, Space Invaders Live, and Frogger Live, which couldn't be included due to audience noise/participation.

You can grab the concert here.

General Music / PSF Ripping
« on: August 12, 2006, 01:34:02 pm »
No, I'm not quite dead yet :p

If you want to do a line-in recording through your computer's headphone-jack sized line-in port, you'll need an RCA to 1/8" headphone jack adapter, like this one:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103225&cp=&origkw=1%2F8+stereo+y-adapter&kw=1%2F8+stereo+y-adapter&parentPage=search

If a PlayStation game doesn't use sequenced music (aka PSF), then it could use a streamed (like WAV, MP3) format such as XA (37800MHz audio) or one of Konami's VB2/BIN formats.  That would essentially be a simple take the files and convert them, as long as you have the appropriate programs.

PSF ripping, however, requires knowledge of some assembly code or other that I don't know, and can only be done if the game uses sequenced music.

General Music / Machinae Supremacy - Redeemer
« on: April 06, 2006, 09:18:01 pm »
I recommend you all check it out ;).  It's better than Dues Ex Machinae (their first album).  I'm not going to lead you directly to the entire album (let's just say it can be found at the usual place(s)), since I think they really deserve the money (they're entirely independent now), so here's three tracks from the album:

Music / .ogg...?

foobar2000 0.9 is better ;).  Especially since its plugin support is shaping up VERY nicely, with foo_gep covering SPC, NSF, GBS, VGM, etc; foo_psf covering PSF; foo_dumb covering MOD, IT3, XM, etc; and support for Ogg Vorbis, Monkey's Audio, FLAC, etc... and an updated AudioScrobbler/Last.fm plugin which works.

General Games / The (unfortunate) return of Peter Moore
« on: March 25, 2006, 06:48:40 pm »
Peter Moore is a dumbass.  He's going to shut down the Xbox operation from the inside....

(In)famous quotes of Peter Moore about 360:
-Microsoft is a superior culture to Sony
-Japan's sales tracking systems (MediaCreate, for example) are unsophisticated

(In)famous event(s) about Peter Moore and 360:
-Pwned by EGM multiple times

As TurboGrafx was developed by NEC and Hudson....

If I don't see significant Konami support for Revolution, I'll be disappointed.  They need to give DDR SuperNOVA a full multiplatform release, because a game with such a beastly songlist has so much potential for sales...

Metroid Prime DS also came out today lol... and the anticipation for the "professional" (lawl) reviews is boiling over.

General Games / Sony has dug their grave. Bye bye Sony!
« on: March 17, 2006, 06:48:21 pm »
My question is just what the price is going to be, and what PS3 is launching with.  Revolution is just about 99.9999999923420345901% confirmed to launch with Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN) and Super Smash Bros. Revolution.  PS3 meanwhile has no confirmed launch titles, though most developers have pledged to target their games towards the November window....

And in the meantime, Sony has announced their mid-line Blu-Ray player will cost about $1,000.
