About myTPH / What kind of "Other Games" music would be allowed?

hmm.. I've got a question about my Super Smash Brothers Melee   .  Is that going to be up in the next update..?  It's got some nice Metroid songs, plus nice Zelda, Mario, Pokémon, F-Zero, EarthBound, and more....  :D

No, you can't.  Final Fantasy 7 does not store it's music in streamed XA format.  All the songs in Final Fantasy 7 are sequenced, so don't try ripping it.

Check out sites like www.ngemu.com in the PlayStation section for more XA/STR tools (but they still won't rip your FF7 sequenced music)

I can work around it too.  I'm very, very good and copying and replacing samples of music with no noticeable hiccups :)

lol.. well, I don't have a GBA, but I've downloaded the GSF set for Megaman and Bass, and the music really, really sucks compared to the original SNES/SFC music.  They've got too much bass crap and too little melody, it sounds all buzzy and.. just bad.

But of course, I'm not Protoman ;)

I've already extracted the STR movie of Zero vs Sigma.  The problem is the audio.. I downloaded the LAME ACM codec to encode with VirtualDub and, like just about everyone else in the world, had problems with this particular version of LAME.  Specifically, the audio track went higher pitched and ran faster than the video track.  I'll figure it out sometime...

Music / small request if possible
« on: March 08, 2005, 08:33:46 pm »
I've been wondering for a while now.  Is the music in the PS2 version of Mega Man Anniversary Collection all streamed (XA), all sequenced, or a mix of both?

Um, the question was directed more towards Protoman than requesters...

Final Fantasy V and VI, Dragon Quest III, Mega Man X1-6, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and TimeSplitters 2.  I'm going to step onto a thin branch, but I'll add TimeSplitters: Future Perfect to the list even though it's not out yet ;)

For the Other Games section, we have some obviously non-Mega Man mp3s.  Would you just accept anything that sounds good and is rare and unique?  (I have in mind Star Wars Rogue Squadron III Rebel Strike, which can't be found anywhere but has some pretty good music, with less rehashes than other SW games)

About myTPH / How exactly do you record the songs?
« on: March 07, 2005, 04:24:56 pm »
Bad, bad!  Nothing but a microphone belongs in the microphone port!  There are usually three audio ports in the back of your computer.  The blue one should be line-in, and your adapter should plug into there.  Then, you need a nice sound recorder like Cool Edit Pro or Sound Forge.  Go to volume control and select Line-in as the recording method.  Then record and save.

Well, I've got DSL, and my upload speed is usually around 36kbps.  Anyways, I just ripped the movie uncompressed, and it was like 770mb   .  I ripped it compressed with Indeo, and it ended up being about 80mb but the color was distorted.  I haven't reinstalled DivX yet since SP2, but I'm planning to, so I could probably drop the size down even more.

Music / shorter x5&x6 songs
« on: March 05, 2005, 05:40:48 pm »
I could upload them to one of my sbcglobal Yahoo briefcases, but it would be slow to upload to Yahoo, and then have them downloaded from Yahoo.  How would I upload to the tph server?

*edit*
I downloaded one file from MMX5 and MMX6 today and looked at them.  They're encoded in 160 constant bitrate, so the VBR mp3s ranging from 128-320 would generally be of better quality and be approximately the same size as the 160kbps mp3s if they were shortened to 2 loops.  Anyways, I noticed that the artist was Capcom and genre Mega Man X.  In my mp3s, I made the artist the 3 composers credited to MMX5 in the Rockman X1-6 soundtrack, and the genre Game.  I can change those if you want.

I've got X4.  I could rip them, but it'd take a while to upload them anywhere, even with compression...
