sorry, everyone ... it was inevitable the way traffic's been skyrocketing these last two weeks. tph has just gotten too popular for its own good. why don't you grab a client (http://www.bittorrent.com/) and pitch in!
(this also means that all of neothe0ne's finished work should be posted soon. not that it's better in a .torrent than it is direct download from his directory ...)
-
ohwell, i already have all the songs i need for now, lets see who will complain the most
-
hint Herb: Seed.. :)
I've installed Azureus, a superior client to the seperate-window-per-tracker official client, and I'm loading up Torrents to seed. So far I've set Rockman Complete Works 1, 2, and 3 to seed, and more will come soon...
(oh yeah, I forgot.. at the moment I'm running a torrent of Conker Live and Reloaded, and I need to finish it and see if I can get the music out. So for now, I won't be seeding very fast)
(oh, and since a few of the songs' tags got modified, I'll be downloading a few tracks here and there too)
-
i've downloaded all the torrents here at work trying to confirm that they're all still working. so far i've only seen one bad one ... rockman zero 4. i'll try to get on that asap, but i'm going to be pretty busy until sunday (full work schedule plus finals for this summer session).
-
And I see that even right now, someone's downloading Rockman Complete Works 3 and 5 ;)
-
No!!!!!
*bites trigger* " it's all your fault you're to blame.
-
I knew we could blame him somehow! Let's rassle, boy!(Trigger, not Sophih)
-
That's too bad, because BT is only a gabazillion times better than regular HTTP.
-
I WOULD seed, but unfortunately ive changed ALL of the file names to fit my music collection's format
-
If you changed the filenames, it's an easy solution. Open the proper Torrent file with Notepad or a Hex Editor and copy and paste the proper filenames over your renamed ones.
If you changed the tags, then it's a different story. I haven't attempted to seed any MP3s which have different tags than TPH's, and I haven't tried to sync them, either. Did you change any of the tags?
-
yea actually i had to change about ten tags so that my friend could obtain them because his comp is REALLY screwed
-
Then rename the MP3s, rename the folder the name of the .Torrent file, and redownload the retagged files ;) I see that at the moment, there are 2-3 seeds on all the Torrents I'm seeding..
-
that's really good news. i think we can say it's off to a good start.
-
This really pisses me off, I don't have Bittorrent, nor do I know how to use it, downloading it was all I had. *CRIES*
-
haha i knew some people would just be too lazy to DL bittorrent
its SO EASY it takes maybe 30 seconds to learn.
-
i love how he is unlazy enough to register for the forum, yet he is too lazy to download bittorrent. it takes like half as many clicks ... >_>
-
lol.. I think we're going to see an explosion in registrations and see complaints about switching to BitTorrent ;)
http://www.bittorrent.com/introduction.html
-
i was thinking about making the (already written in capitals and bold type) IMPORTANT on the main music page blink, but then i realized that wouldn't be fair to people who go there already having bittorrent ready to go.
-
Popups! :D
-
heh. no.
-
I'm gone for a few day's and THIS happens?
Wth?!
I DEMAND YOU PUT THEM BACK UP AS SINGLE SONGS TO DOWNLOAD!!
BECUASE I'M TOO DAMN LAZY TO BT THEM ALL JUST TO FIND 1 OR 2 SONGS I LIKE!!!
*shoulder throws Swift into a dumpster* *savours morrigans bite marks*
-
got $100 a month? :P
-
got $100 a month? :P
I will soon enough!! AND I WILL FUND THE ENTIRE TPH!!
MWAHAHAHAHAHH!!! PH34R MY |,,337 WR4TH!!!
As soon as I get approved for one of my applications. :P
-
Hold him up to this.
-
meh, i don't care where the money comes from; i'll take it. imagine hosting speed runs for sda from the server instead of from archive. downloads as fast as your connection can take, and free (to the user) forever. that's what we could do with an unlimited bandwidth server.
-
And an Unlimited Bandwith server costs $100 a month?
...Ok then. Consider it done...
-
OUCH! SCARLET, YOU'RE MAKING MY MODEM BLEED!
downloads as fast as your connection can take
Zat so, Protoman? Wait til I get hooked to the Superline.... AT 4 GB A SECOND! (that's right. 4 gigabytes a second. Not four megs. no no. 4 GIGS a second. Can it do THAT!?)
-
Swiftman, no offense, but it's safe to say that unless you're richer than Bill Gates, that's impossible, heh. Sorry to break it to ya, buddy.
-
a "limitless" bandwidth server costs $100 a month?
I'm thinking that enough people would be interested in downloading to donate a bit.. if you made a PayPal account for donations, and, say, required each unique IP to donate at least $1 a month for direct downloads, wouldn't that solve a lot of trouble? ;) I gather that more than 100 people download anyways, and some people would be willing to donate more than just one dollar...
-
yea we could at least have the special server for 2-3 months, idk if people would KEEP donating though, unless we swarm them with emails and whatnot
-
Swiftman, no offense, but it's safe to say that unless you're richer than Bill Gates, that's impossible, heh. Sorry to break it to ya, buddy.
It's snot impossible, Yosh. My school is going to get hooked up to the Canada Superline, which has a bandwidth of 4 GB/sec. My school is gonna have it, many large businesses have it, and it's available to any person who can get hooked up to it. (it costs roughly $2000 a foot for an extension, but if I live next to a big company, like Yodda Yodda in Edmonton, I should be fine. The most expensive part of the Superline is getting the connection there, after that it's pretty cheap. [roughly $60 a month, I believe.])
So yeah, 4 gb/sec isn't impossible. It's fairly new around here, but it's flourushing under those who can get connected to it.
-
I guess it's one of the magical things you get by living in Canada, I suppose, cause I never heard of anything faster than T-3.
-
IT SURE IS! MWEHEHEHEHHEHE!!!! WHEN I GET THAT, I'LL BE SWIFTER THAN ALL OF YOU! EAT MY DUST WhEN THAT HAPPENS!
-
But then who will I harrass? I'm fine with my 300kbps because I've never been to a server that gave me more than 20, but still, your Canada Super Line sounds freaking awesome for BT! Gaah, I wonder if I can get a sattelite connection to it.
-
haha yea youd prolly have to buy your own satellite though to deal with that
-
a "limitless" bandwidth server costs $100 a month?
No, it's $100 more than we're paying now.
I'm thinking that enough people would be interested in downloading to donate a bit.. if you made a PayPal account for donations, and, say, required each unique IP to donate at least $1 a month for direct downloads, wouldn't that solve a lot of trouble? ;)
No, people are cheap.
A lot say they will give money.
They don't.
-
A lot of us lack the means to give to TPH. Believe me, if I had the means, and more than $10, I would give. What do you expect me to do, take this $1.25 in Canadian change and mail it to Lubbock?
-
wow. radix posted on tph.
armageddon is officially here.
*clutches trh tightly*
-
*gets in Skiver mech and flys to Alpha Centauri, just in case*
-
*wonders what trh is, and concludes that its tph in its early form of armageddon*
*hopes that conclusion isnt wrong and retarded sounding*
-
TRH is The Rotoman Homepage, Protoman's been battling it out with those guys for years. It's all in the biography.
-
...How do you work Bit Torrent? I was bummed when Proto or whoever it is that puts the tracks up finally put Zero series up there, but only via Bit Torrent. To remedy this dismay...
HOW DO YOU FREAKN' WORK BIT TORRENT!?
XP Just a joke; I don't mean to seem rude. Someone please explain to me how it works?
-
OK EVERYBODY LISTEN CLOSELY I REALLY WANNA SLOVE ALL OF THIS GRIPING ABOUT BT
1. ok first go to www.bittorrent.com
2. download it and install if need be (i dont remember if you have to install BT, but do it if you have to (obviously) )
3. go to TPH's download page, right click on the torrent name, and click on "Save target as"
4. save the torrent file to your desktop. double-click on the file and one of two things happens:
I. if it is a single file download, it asks where you want it to download onto your computer
II. If it is multiple files, it will ask you where you want it to create a folder for the files on your computer
5. The downlaod process begins, just chill out for a bit. If anything goes wrong, you can restart and the download will resume from where you left off
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. NOW, IF ANYONE ASKS HOW TO WORK BT, KILL THEM FOR IGNORANCE OR SEND THEM TO THIS THREAD B/C WE ALREADY HAVE LIKE 5 COMPLAIN THREADS AND WE DONT NEED ANYMORE
im not mad at anyone in particular i promise
-
...How do you use bittorent again? *shot*
I know how to use it....But I'm not gonna download a whole game to find one or two tracks that I want....And I have yet to find out how to make it download just one song. Becuase BT DOESN'T COME WITH A FSCKING MANUAL!!!!
-
it's not possible, is it?
-
it's not possible, is it?
I hear there's a way to select certain things to be downloaded one their own. But I haven't found a way to yet. And everyone keep sayin you can.
So either
A) I'm not looking hard enough..
or..
B) They're full of BS
....I'm thinking it's B, but I'm not sure yet.
-
yea i dont think you can download only some of the files
yet
maybe in a later version, because that would be EXTREMELY helpful
-
Try a different client perhaps?
Edit: I just checked Bit Tornado, and it does indeed have this nifty function. Just right click a song in 'Details' and choose "download never" for the applicable songs.
-
Try a different client perhaps?
There's that....
Then there's-*lazies*
-
I REEELY HATE TORRENT
unless the file is realy popular it takes forever to dl
i usualy have to leave it on over night to just to get some of it.
-
aww how sad
i cant believe that leaving your computer on overnight is SOOOOO bad. at least you have the files, and it really isnt that big a deal
-
lol. i've left my computer on all night for the past ten years.
-
Look....do you have msn??? ask one of the top ten posters then ask them for a file
-
yea chances are we all have every song on this site
i dont, only the original series stuff and sonic and lumines
-
I jsut have bits and pieces of the stuff. My dial-up up and everything. Ask Trigger or Lazlo, they'll prolly have it.
-
Ok then... How do you work the Torrent file. I just Needed the Megaman Zero Songs!
-
Ok then... How do you work the Torrent file. I just Needed the Megaman Zero Songs!
Ignorance is bliss (http://www.protoman.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=285)
Kinda sad, especially since it's a sticky...
-
i think the cause of so much traffic on the site is because this site has been the only site i have ever seen on the entire internet that has, or rather had, mp3s of megaman music. apparently other sites don't get it. and if traffic on this site is so massive in that area, it makes me wonder why no other megaman sites have music downloads. it would easily help lighten the traffic. what with more available download areas.
unfortunately, my Windows XP account isnt the administrator's account and it forbids me to download BT. i'm afraid i may have to stop my MMX music downloads from this site after loading from here for more than 2 years :( .
if there is ever a way to bring back the downloads, i'll be back. but i can understand why you did what you did, protoman. had i been in your shoes, i'd have done the same. nobody wants to pay for bandwith with their limbs. though i downloaded all that i wanted, i may need to seek out another site for when i play MMX6 and find music in the game that interests me. either that or find a way to get BT.
but thank you, protoman, for all the music downloads in the past. i thought i would never be able to obtain those songs in mp3 until i stumbled on your site. and i hope that one day, you'll be able to make them available on mp3 again.
-
.....
Sorry, but unfortunately, that's not what all the traffic's been about.
To start off, the following sites have HTTP downloads of Mega Man music:
-i don't remember anymore, but there are...
These sites all have Mega Man music available via BitTorrent:
-i don't remember anymore, but there are...
Now, THIS is where most of the traffic came from, somehow, as I never posted anywhere that these files existed....
http://nate.metroid2002.com/analog/tph/20050701/tph/#req
There's where a sh*tload of traffic came from. Truth be told, if those files weren't accessible, the traffic probably wouldn't be so bad....
-
well. at least retrofaction still works. though i kinda liked the "other games" section of TPH. never could find those metroid etc songs anywhere else. but once again, i have all the songs from there that i wanted. i think these forums are nice though and i think i'll stick around on them now.
-
Ah, good to hear. We could use you, Lord Atmo. Any rookie that has good grammar and spelling such as yours is very welcome. I always thought that Tiger was a little arrogant when I saw him sign all of his posts, but he has such style and grace that you can't help but like him. (makes an excellent neutral party, and an excellent salesman, what with all his sunglass shines and all) Well, so to say, Tiger had not the best start with me, but you have Atmo, and so you should stay.
*holds out hand* Good to have you aboard.
-
tph still uses a huge amount of bandwidth due to the torrent client it's running seeding all the torrents. it's just not as huge an amount as it was before.
-
you should just put EVERY song into ONE BIG torrent, and see how many people get pissed (do it on april fools day or something)
-
Heh. Imagine the time that would take on dial-up. Harder than the free World of Warcraft I stumbled on one day... (I would have gotten it, but 2 gigs? On DIAL-UP!? HA HA HA AHA HA HA! If I had the Superline, I could get it in half a second, but on dial-up? Even 5 megs is almost too big.
-
Well, though it's sad to see HTTP downloads going away, I don't mind BT. Anyway, can someone seed the MMZ 4 torrent? Some peers and me are all stuck at 12%. Thanks.
-
is tph server not seeding? i'll have to look at that when i get home from work.
-
i love how he is unlazy enough to register for the forum, yet he is too lazy to download bittorrent. it takes like half as many clicks ... >_>
It's a real bitch to instal Bittorrent to my computer, considering i shgare it with 3 other people, and I am not in charge of adminatsrtive options which disable |Bittrorrent and my parents are too cheap to get me my own fucking computer.
The HTTP downloads were SO much easier in my curerent sitation.
>=(
-
I need every speed advantage I can get, and from what I hear BT ain't good for speed.
-
yea BT isnt the best in terms of speed, but in terms of content it kills everything else
-
I've been waiting to download the Shining Force soundtracks for days now...still at 0.0%. BitTorrent gets me excited then knocks me down, then it kicks me in the ass and laughs at me. Everything here downloads fine though (I only downloaded Streets of Rage, so I'd assume everything else would work fine). But damn, when will it find a source that I can download the Shining Force soundtracks?!
-
You guys don't seem to understand the nature of BitTorrent. BitTorrent is peer-to-peer, so it would theoretically be much faster than an HTTP server with a small transfer cap. Problem is that some people can't keep their computers on, or can't seed because they changed the songs' tags looooong ago...
-
Here a Webbsite where u can Download MegaMan X Music :)
http://www.maverick-virus.com/music.php
-
OOOOoooooorrrrrrrrr...... get bittorrent and use www.protoman.com *smacks*
-
maverick virus is nonexistant. the link takes me to a "free domain" page
-
must have used too much bandwidth. :P
-
Because Since 05/07/04. Maverick Virus is currently being updated Duh
-
This is ok, and I understand your need to conserve bandwidth, but
10kb/s, 33%, 38:59 minutes remaing
;_;
-
OOHH! 10 kbs! I hope you know that some of us would KILL for bandwidth like that. I'm surprised when I get a constant 3 kbs! HA! Consider yourself lucky!
-
3 Kpbs? That's pretty slow for dial-up. I got at least 5kbps when I had dial-up only a few months ago.
-
Yes, yes. City dial-up is ALWAYS faster thann country dial-up. I mean, Clest has dial-up, and he gets 3.4 kbs usually. I hardly ever get more than 2.
-
geez i was DLing all 26 episdoes of Chobits (4.5 gigs) and I have broadband and i was getting 1 or 2 kbs
it took 3 weeks
-
4.5 gigs? Once I get the Superline, I'll be able to get that in 1.25 seconds. *drools at potential bandwidth*
-
By the way, Swift, I checked that Superline thing out. It says it only goes as fast as 700kbps. That's still quite fast though. Only problem, it'll only download as fast the server's connection.
-
Fine, so it's limited by the server's capabilities. But, Witness himself told me that it was 4 gb a second. It's usually used for large businesses that have about 800 computers in the network. Imagine, 4 gigs to one comp.... That's mroe than I get in a year, almost.
-
That's still really badass. Link please?
-
I'm basically gonna crawl on my kneees and beg for the music to be avalible on download agian, Protoman.
Jeezus Focking CRHEEEST, Bit Torrent fucking sucks. >=(
-
omg everyones already complained enough just grow up and get the songs while you still can
-
omg everyones already complained enough just grow up and get the songs while you still can
Exactly. In the time everyone's wasted complaining and bitching about Torrents and refusing not to use it, you could've gotten ALL the songs and them some by now.
-
MOST of us could, SY. Some, however, cannot.... But of course we all know my dial-up and naturally exclude me form your statistics.
-
yea but at least you dont bitch and cry about it
its not the end of the world if you cant get the files as fast as YOU want to, bittorent benefits everyone b/c it keeps protoman's bandwidh low
-
I'm basically gonna crawl on my kneees and beg for the music to be avalible on download agian, Protoman.
Jeezus Focking CRHEEEST, Bit Torrent fucking sucks. >=(
stay tuned.
-
Ooh, I wonder what's happening?
