Title: BATMAN BEGINS!
Post by: Swiftman on June 18, 2005, 06:41:27 pm
THIS MOVIE IS THE COOLEST EVER! IT BEATS DOWN EVEN SPIDERMAN 2 AND THE INCREDIBLES!

Seriously, if you like Batman, even the tiniest bit, WATCH THIS MOVIE! Seriously, even if you don't like Batman (How could you not?) WATCH THIS FREAKING SWEET MOVIE! I tell you, THIS MOVIE PUTS PAID TO ALL THE OTHER ONES DONE WRONG!

Look at that, and tell me that's not cool. If you don't like this movie, I'll have Kary come and beat you to submission (or she will herself, she likes this movie too)

Heh... If you think this was a bad fanboy spurt, just wait until I see the Fantastic Four movie....

Yes, please don't spoil it, I'm looking forward to this more than any other Batman movie. Of course, I probably won't see it until it comes out on Pay Per View, because my family sucks and they refuse to take me to see movies.

I think the more you like old-shool Batman, the less nerdy you are, since Batman was from... What, 1964? Now THAT'S Old skool. (So is the Fantastic Four XD)

I happen to know that Batman was at least around in the 50s.

Meh, I'm sixteen. I don't know much on DC comics. (I'm more a Marvel fanboy, but Batman is an exception.)

Yeah, Marvel is better than DC, but they have some awesome comics over at DC. I just saw a Batman comic somewhere dated some time in the 50s.

I don't like most DC characters. (Superman I found was jsut a cheap character.) But what I liked most about Batman was.... He's just this guy. He's not a mutant, and he doesn't have any alien artifact, or anything of the sort. He's just a guy in a cool cape that has cool gadgets. Sure, he's a billionaire and everything, but he's so normal! You point a gun at him, he gets scared. He can easily die. And I like that he's a good guy in a bad guy costume. He's so evil looking, but he's so nice, but so hardened by his past. Man, HE'S SO COOL!

But, I jsut like the depth of Marvel comics, and how even the most powerful of characters have inner demons and everything (a fine example of that would be Spiderman, as we all know) And even users of the power cosmic (my favorite power EVER!) has troubles coping with what he does. (Not Galactus, Silver Surfer, my fav ultima-hero [hero that has near ultimate power])

Well, I'm just a normal fanboy that has something some other fanboys don't.

Incredible movie.  Batman's pretty old, we're talkin' late 30's/early 40's... this one's very reminiscent of the Dark Knight you see in the 80's/90's.  So yeah, go see it.  I still have a soft spot for the 1989 movie, but this is one of the better Batman movies.

I need to see it still....although I highly doubt it'll be better than the 1989 Batman, which still remains as one of my favorite movies of all time (With such movies as the Star Wars trilogy and the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, heh)

By the way, don't try convincing me that it is better than the 1989 Batman, because no Batman movie is ;)

HOLYOHMAHPHREAKINGGAWDISPOOGEDFOURTIMEZFORTEHBATMANZ!
Holy shit.. this is the greatest movie of all time, and no words could do it justice.
But I did think of a completely irrelevant and furthermore stupid theroy linking all of the cool things in the universe into one.
In the years leading up to Batman, the Falconi family became a very powerful force in Gotham City, which was, and will always remain, the largest city in the world. After being taken down, the Falconi tried to change thier ways, by being kind and genorous to the city.
Soon, though, climates changed, politics changed, the world changed. People crowded into a few MegaCities, and what was left, was known as the Scorched Earth. This was the dawn of the Judges (Can you tell I liked Judge Dredd?). After many hundreds of years, order was restored, and rich mougles found thier lives boring and droll, and thus, created a high speed race, based on the old formula one races that exist today. They called this the F-Zero Grand Prix. The Falconi's, still being rich, donated millions of credits, and even directly sponsore racers such as Captain Arrow. (Lazlo Falconi, referance, of course).
I'd like to flesh it out more, but, I have to complain, because they took my game out of the mini-arcade at the theatre! I was so angry I decided to watch the pre-previews.
Anyway, if I can, I'm going to see this again, but next time, I'll try to go to the local IMAX to see Batman 2 stories tall. Aah, I thought about blowing off my parents and watching it again, ti was so awesome. I CAN'T SAY HOW BADASS THIS IS! GRAAH! MOTHERLAND!

I double posted because this movie deserves it.

THEY SURE DID, PEACHES!

They made him have power of electricity or something, and hiss suit was natural. It wasn't something he made himself, like the comic, it was hs skin that was the suit. Sure, it looked wicked cool, but.... It ruined Doom for me.... The coolest thing about him was that he was a master over robotics and had no powers, yet still he could kick some serious ass. They ruined that.....

Yeah, I didn't really like the FF movie either, but I'm eagerly waiting for Advent Children.
Title: BATMAN BEGINS!
Post by: Pyche on July 27, 2005, 07:30:49 pm
Advent Children is on the top of my list of things to BUY right now... Have any of your heard of Ultimate Fantastic Four? It's like if the Four of them got their powers in modern times. It's pretty neat, has logical explanations for their powers, how they work and how they got them. But i bring this up because Doom is metallic. He's not "disfigured" from the explosion in college, but is converted into a metal like, armoured figure.

Just what was so bad about 7?  I don't mean to start a Fanboy war, but with the exception of 1, the only really good ones in the series are 4-7.  The rest are merely above average RPGs.

I think the fact that... oh...8 years(!!!) after the initial game release, that it still has steam to make a movie out of it, plus several spin off games puts you in the minority dude... Me, personally, i think at IX, X and XI it started to really go downhill. IX i didn't bother to finish, X didn't even want to start, and when you get any MMORPG, it's just not worth it.

I believe he's going off the post you made about not playing most of them.  Unfortunately I have no idea what point he's trying to make.  FF is just a case of brand name selling multiple sequels that aren't actually sequels.

Personally I don't want to even try playing any of the new ones.  I will admit to playing IX though, it was dorky and fun.  Horribly easy though.

I liked Final Fantasy:  The Spirits Within, but I know of approximately 0, give or take a few, people who feel the same.  Why don't you like it?  Was it because the CG wasn't as good as you wanted (it could have been better)?  Because it wasn't like an FF game (it wasn't in many ways, but was in some, and not just because they had a guy named Cid)?  I'm genuinely curious, but do please leave ignorant or dismissive comments at the door.  Alfred will take care of them for you.

I actually kind of liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they decided to slap the name Final Fantasy on it. I think that's the worst part of the games, and wish they'd just come up with a real name for once.
Title: BATMAN BEGINS!
Post by: Tiger on July 30, 2005, 09:44:35 pm
I think Pyche's point, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that the Final Fantasy games are the most popular series of RPGs, period.  Other Squaresoft games aren't far behind.  Some people do play and buy the games out of "title loyalty" but of course if they weren't any good to them they would put it down.  Now, you can say that everyone who likes Final Fantasy is an ignorant moron, but whether they are or not, more people like those games than any other RPG game/series.  For me, I can see a pattern in many of the Final Fantasy games, but I still enjoyed them thoroughly.  Shakespeare might have done the same himself if he didn't use the EXACT same model every time, thus my attention is lost.  In any case, IN ADDITION to Final Fantasy I've enjoyed many many other RPGs in my time.  So... yeah I'm done.

Zaijian,
Tiger

I like the other batman movies, mostly because whenever absolutly nothing else is on, there's Batman. I can practically recite the one where he and Robin team up due to HBO's sterling placement of this movie.
