Post by: Nightmare X on November 27, 2005, 06:13:52 pm: Ridiculous development (In an end he didn't even have a reason to want to destroy the world, since he KNEW he wasn't an ancient), little screentime, Oedipus Complex, overall clichÃ© anime villain, barely spoke to the party in general just to cloud, stupid design, didn't have any good dialogue nor any dialogue previous to the final battle, lack of any success whatsoever as a villain, etc.

And FF7's gameplay was killed by lack plot that made playing interesting and too much customization.

It's boring, that's what's wrong with it. It was a boring game that for whatever reason people think it's mana from God. It gets annoying.

Cecil is all Like Oh noes I'm a bad guy and then he meets a Summoner who died, but didn't really die Plus an old guy who sacrifices himself. Oh, and some kids who sacrifice themselves, and some ninja guy.

What did that guy do? Oh yeah, sacrificed himself for the team. -_-
And this was all within like 15 -20 hours of gameplay. Then my game got erased because my memory card blew up. That kinda sucked.

Give me examples dammit! The fact that other people like it is null; millions of people love Mark Twain's books and they're pretty good. Don't use popularity as the first reason to hate something (it can be a reason though I suppose).

Your reasons for hating Sephiroth seem to lie solely on hating Sephiroth, in the big picture, he was really kind of pawn. That's the way the plot works; NMX, I could use half your examples as reasons to hate anything if I spole vaguely enough.

Since when is customization a bad thing? Because it supposedly ruins character development that you force yourself to hate? Because thinking a little about the materia system is bad? At least admit that the music kicks ass if nothing else, it has one of the better soundtracks for an RPG.

In the end, I don't really care all that much. I just think you need to understand what a bad game is. Play Beyond the Beyond or Chocobo's Dungeon if you want a bad game. FF7 can be considered average at worst.

In fact, most of the Final Fantasy games are boring! However, you don't see those other RPGs with fanboys who get people banned from places for giving a review that tells it like it is.

Post by: Seeker on November 28, 2005, 09:03:52 am: O.o;; the only reason i am going to agree with the sephiroth statement is the fact that he did suck, and no, in knowing that he wasnt an ancient wouldnt you be kinda pissed to? he did have jenovas blood and in case you didnt watch the video in the snow town jenova was the leader of the ancients. so sephiroth was immortal (or at least powerful enough to destroy the world like a sadistic bastard and hope for the best)

However the folly of calling sephiroth the main villian is one many make. and is normally what made the game boring. (I only liked the game because there was a few sparks in the story.. even if it ended as one big cheesy story that thus after led to my dislike for final fantasys easy games and childish stories that had maybe one of 2 sparks)

To conclude in a near different subject, if your in the game for challenge and depth, find yourself something with either stratagy rp or a harder rpg then ff. If your in it for the story, forget all tv video games or movies and get a book.

And if you want a hard rpg AND story go play a text and dice rpg (eg, Dungions and dragons, travaler, ect. ect.) that allows you to write the story of the charactors you control, gives them endless possibilitys, and can be as easy or hard as you want. all else needed you can make yourself with a little work, and who knows maybe your little creation can earn a few bucks

overall (this is the real conclusion, i swear) dont complain that games arnt what they used to be, either live with it, ignore it, or fix it yourself.

Who cares? It's only in battle anyways.

I think you're the one that doesn't get it NMX if you still think that Sephiroth was the main villain of the game. It's been a damn long time since I played it but from what I remeber Sephi was just a pawn and Jenova was pretty much the bad guy along with what Shinra was doing.
