Title: Sega Saturn
Post by: Superyoshi on July 23, 2005, 09:15:18 pm
I'm gonna get a Sega Saturn for my birthday, with Sonic Jam, Sonic 3D Blast, and Street Fighter Alpha 2 (At least the one I'm bidding on does, hopefully I win, still two more days).

Here's some games I've been thinking about buying as well

Clockwork Knight 2 (Awesome underrated game, I had this when I used to have Saturn...I might still have it, but it's long gone XD)
Megaman 8 (Always wanted the superior Saturn version)
Sonic R (Always wanted this too)
SCUD:  The Disposable Assassin (I rented this way back when it came out, it's a pretty fun 2D side-scrolling shooter with some FPS parts)
NiGHTS: Into Dreams (Again...everyone who has Saturn needs to own this game, I only had a demo, always wanted this XD)

Anyone else wanna recommend some games?

Ohhh yeah, I remember that game.  I even still have the issue of Game Informer where they covered Fighters Megamix, the combination of Virtua Fighters and Fighting Vipers.

Oh yeah, that game owned my Saturn! And just so you know, NiGHTS is a good game, but really weird if I recall... Sonic 3D Blast is okay, just don't expect a whole lot of easy or different from the Genesis/MegaDrive version.

I hear you can play as some hot chick anmed Maria in the Saturn version.

Sure can. Maria uses a bunch of animal summons, mkaing her VERY powerful. Though I want to play the Turbographix-16 Castlevania more than the Saturn SOTN.

One little problem.

1. It's rare as hell.

2. It's only in Japanese

Wait...that's two...nevermind.  If there's one rare Japanese game I really want for Saturn, that's Radiant Silvergun...too bad it costs more than $100.  I know Treasure kicks ass and everything, but that's just a bit TOO much to pay for a game.

And yeah, I rented 3D Blast when it came out on Genesis, then eventually bought the Saturn version when THAT came out.  I like the Saturn version better for the music and that cool 3D Special Stage.  Mostly I wanted it for the nostalgia though XD.

NiGHTS kicks ass.  Never owned a Saturn, so I didn't get to play it much.  You can play a mini version on teh GBA with Phantasy Star Online.

Where did you find a Saturn, or someone found a Saturn for you?  I can't find those anywhere.  I'm assuming Ebay.

Why not download the ROM for it? (The Saturn version)

I mean, its not like the officials know where you live, heck, they don't know WHERE ANY ROM owner(s) live.

Cuz it's Turbographix-16 CD game. Not only would it be unaquirable on dial-up, it would likely not work anyways. Plus, if the rom WAS in distribution, people would be grabbing ti left and right. It's VERY saught after.

All the Saturn RPG's are too damn expensive.  Especially Shining Force III.  Have you heard the voices in that game?!  Hilarious.

Sorry for the double post, but good news.  I won =D.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8206991744&category=62054&rd=1

As you can see, it comes with a few rarites, including the ever sought after ('specially by me, being a Treasure fan and all) Guardian Heroes.  91 bucks, but if you ask me, that's not a bad deal, so I'm happy, hehe.

That's cool, Saturn was really a great consol, and too few people realized it.

X-Men vs Street Fighter (import)
Guardian Heroes (import is way cheaper)

It's not super duper different; 2 small added areas, Richter + Maria playable from the start, some new songs, slower play if you need to look at the map (have to hit start to go into the menu, then press the L button to actually get to the map).

Yeah, my Saturn actually comes WITH the US version of Guardian Heroes.  I felt like I was the luckiest person in the world to win it, I know how rare it is.  Anyways, I'm not much of an importer, not to mention I never realized how rare X-Men vs. Street Fighter is.  I'm guessing it's the precurser to Marvel Vs. Capcom.  Even the PSX version is worth a lot.  Can't even find a US Saturn one on Ebay.

And as for SotN, I really don't want it.  It's way too rare for me already having the PSX version and all.  Even though I am curious as to how Maria plays and what the new areas are.  I heard there was new music too, but it ain't worth an extra $40, not to mention I have to buy a modder thing for my Saturn.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter?  And I thought Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was unbalanced.

Which reminds me, there was a XMen vs. Street Fighter machine at an arcade that had a bad joystick and 3 of the punch/kick buttons were pretty bad.  The fierce didn't even work at all.  pretty funny playing it though.

Wow @ free? GH.  Very nice.

There is no US version of Xmen vs. SF for the Saturn, so that's probably why you are having trouble finding it.  I bought it years ago, so I don't know if it was expensive or not.

You aren't missing too much from the Saturn version of Castlevania, the new stuff is cool at first but not omgomg.

Well, I knew this was too good to be true.  I knew my life would screw me over like this.  The guy said he hasn't recieved his payment, which I HAVE payed for 2 days ago.  He better not be fucking joking....Sometimes I hate my life...

Don't feel too bad, Superyoshi. Sometimes, things can go far worse. Far, far, FAR worse than a guy not recieving your payment. *thinks of Kag*

*tear goes down cheek*

Just.... Just don't say you hate your life until it gets to it's worst.

Well, yeah, I guess I shouldn't have said that.  I'm just really angry and deppressed now for 1. Being excited and happy about getting a Saturn with 20 games plus rare ones  and 2. Wasting almost $100 and that was my entire birthday money so now I can't buy anything for my birthday.  So, sorry about that, I didn't really mean it like that.  I'm just naturally unlucky...

Sorry for overreacting people, I shall slap myself for being an ass *slaps*
Anyways, he said he needed to verify his Paypal so he screwed up a little.  >.> again, sorry, as you can obviously tell, I'm emotional and easily deppressed XD.  But now I'm happy again.  I say crap I don't mean, and I am an ass =P

By the way
*slaps self again*

I thought Jay Leno did the voice of the Crimson Chin, though?  Oh wait, was that the episode with the Crimson Chin movie or something (Yes, I watch too many cartoons)

Yeah, Jay Leno does the voice of the real Crimson Chin, but there was an episode where they did a movie. I think that's what you're asking...

Woo-hoo, it finally came today.

To my surprise it even came with the original box and Bootleg Sampler Disk, not to mention a free Gameshark as well.  Here's the games that came with it.

Guardian Heroes (Yes, it's as awesome as people say it is)
Sonic Jam
Sonic 3D Blast
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Three Dirty Dwarves
Mortal Kombat II
Rampage: World Tour
Die Hard Arcade
Road Rash
Winter Heat
NFL '97
Madden '98
NBA Jam T.E.
Soviet Strike
Nascar 98
PGA Tour 97
Crypt Killers
Bottom of the 9th
WWF: In Your House
Space Jam
NBA Live 98
Virtual Open Tennis

All of the games (excluding MK II, no manual) came with their original box and instructions.  I think for $91, it's a pretty good deal I got, even though some of the games I got aren't that great XD.

Try to find a 6 player adapter for the Saturn; 6-player GH (I think its just a versus battle though) was really fun.
