Questions about Line-in...ing

(1/5) > >>

Lazlo Falconi:
Anyway, I just got my F-ZERO cart today, so I thought that to commemerate it, I'd do a line-in of it. The first question, of course, is what do I use to record from the Line-in plug? Do I use Sound Recorder? Secondly, how do I convert .WAV into .mp3? If there's one program that does this, could someone point me in the direction? Thanks in advance (or not) and look for thos recordings when I have time to get them all converted and whatnot.

neothe0ne:
F-Zero's for SNES, right?  If so, you need to get a Nintendo A/V cable, not the SNES RF adapter.  N A/V cables are included with N64s and GCs, so you should have one.  Then, you need to buy a Y-adapter that accepts two audio cords and plugs into a normal-headphone-sized port.  Then you need a professional sound editor.  GoldWave is the best free ap.  The details will come later ;)

Lazlo Falconi:
I already have a Y adapter, don't know where I got it, but I've been using it for my GCN's speakers because my T.V. only works in mono. So I'll grab GoldWave (Google'd) and see what I can do.

Edit'd: From the screenshots it looks pretty easy to work with, so I'll download it and set my SNES up down here.
Edit Again: Ok, I did a line-in of the title theme, but I wasn't sure of anything, so I used default settings (44100Hz 128kbps) The total file is 57.620 seconds long, what do you think?
Now I realize this isn't the best song in the world, and it probably shouldn't be as long as it is because it's so repetitive, but was the quality ok?
One more time... Here's also Mute City, same settings but I'm not oging to post the time because I forgot to check. You'll figure itout if you want to know.

This one is Mute City.

protoman:
does lame come with goldwave now?

neothe0ne:
It's generally a rule that you only record in lossless wave or AIFF... then encode to lossless compression or lossy compression later.
