Shining Force was an awesome game, and apparently there's a new one out for PS2. Anyway, for me, it's currently Batallion Wars. But Advance Wars is awesome, too. Final Fantasy Tactics (I played the GBA version and liked it, and everyone says the PSX version is even better, so I'm sure I'll like that), Shining Force 1&2(never played any others)... does Actraiser count? 'Cause I liked that one, too.

OH DAMN ADVANCED WARS how could i forget?

You really can't compare Strategy games (Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining Force) and Real Time Strategy games (Age of Empires, Starcraft) together. They're just completley different genres if you ask me.
-
Most definatly so, however, I didn't see anyone comparing?

I meant as in treating both genres as the same thing.
Like people who think every Zelda game (Besides Zelda II) is an RPG.
-
Still, though, you may to have a preferance over real time or turn based, so you can have a favorite strategy game.

command and conquer.

Im not comparing them, Im jsut stating my favorites

Real time and strategy are sub-genre's of the whole Strategy genre. Like how platformer has bigger, RPG-esque games like Metroid and CV, SotN, and plain ol' shooters like Megaman. Strategy is one genre, with ones beneath it.
That's how I see it, anyways.

Not real big on these myself, but I DID like Kessen for PS2.
