Music / Spark man tunes and other
« on: February 15, 2005, 11:10:50 am »
Symphony of the night had a music test. Go to the master librarian after you beat the game and it'll show all the music you've uncovered (heard of already.) I would assume that would make your job quite a bit easier. (ps: You get more music if you beat the inverted castle as well.)

Hope I could help.

Music / Spark man tunes and other

In the megaman anniversary collection, is there a sparkman song that was updated to sound like the power fighters? If there is, it's not on the site.
Also, is there any other sparkman remixes out on the web, authentic or fan-made? I love the sparkman tune. I'd like ANY other versions of it, besides midi's.

Plus, on something other than Sparkman, is it possible at any point in time (say, a few years up the road) to get Castlevania, symphony of the night songs going? That game had the most excellent musical score of anything (better than any megaman, I'm ashamed to say.) and it covers so many different genres of music that it should satisfy anyone.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. Wily Wars was a great game. I like pretty much all 8-16 bit remakes, like the power battle/fighters cps2 games. I just like hearing my favorite songs remade into improved quality.
This site is simply amazing. You cover games I've never even heard of! Excellent job, protoman.

In mmIII, when Megaman is falling and Proto's whisteling, while Mega is still in the air You'll hear the extended version of Protoman's whistle tune.

Hope this helps.

About myTPH / sprite avatar question
« on: February 09, 2005, 08:16:05 pm »
I think Herb or Gemini man can answer this one.
Your avatar, unlike mine, has a transparent layer behind the picture, so it doesn't have a white border around it. How'd you guys do that? Mine has a big white background on it, and I don't know how to turn it off.
(Note: I don't have a bitmap program more powerful than ms paint. If paint can't make transparent backgrounds, then never mind.)

Thanks in advance.

Ok, never mind. If I load it at my brothers place, the resolution is higher so I can see the whole thing in one window without resizing, so problem solved. Plus, he has high speed there, so it loads the comic roughly 2500x faster than my dial-up.

Thanks for your help anyways. I'm sorry I wasn't specific enough at the start.

General Games / Recent decline of Megaman
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:52:59 pm »
I agree. I liked the final boss in mm7, where you have 3-4 e-tanks to help in battle, yet Wily was very hard, but not impossibly hard. in rockman and Forte, they took away the e-tanks and suddenly it got unfairly hard. Even with save state, King was blazingly difficult. And then you had to fight his huge mecha form, and he's harder still! Despite all that, I like Rockman and Forte. Probably because it's a classic series game.

The mm X games were always so good. So many hidden things to find, so many upgrades, SO many things to blow up. That changed in the PSX conversion. Less enemies, less upgrades, less in a lot of things that made the snes X games good. (the anime cutscenes were a nice touch, though.)
I never even liked the EXE series. I bought the first one, and I didn't like it. The new anime is even worse! Gah! I don't like that series at all, and yet capcom is putting more and more emphasis on that than the X series.

I actually really like the Zero series. I like the harsh, loud rock-like music (even though I don't like rock) and all the different weapons. One thing I like is that it's hard, but not impossibly hard. You had full healers, different elements to take advantage of, and you learned new tricks as you progressed through the game. The only thing i didn't like was Zero's appearance. He used to look so cool, having that huge armor and wicked sword. He kept the sword, though it looks really thin, not like the original. Not only that, but he seems to have lost that sweet looking armor and now looks like he has anorexia. His hair also seems more sleek and longer, more feminine like. His old version had less emphasis on his hair, plus he had the look that said "What, I have a long ponytail? What're you gonna do about it?" I didn't like Zero 3 as much as the others. Too easy, I say. I beat it in days. The first two took me weeks to beat.

I'd have to say, Capcom should release a new classic game. NOT for the new Gamcube or PS2. Then they'll probably make it 3d, which will NOT be good in my book. Megaman Legends handles the 3d department of Megaman. (speaking of which, a new legends game would be nice.) I'd say, make the game on GBA first, then not release it on that system and make it for ps2/gc. That way, they keep the same elements and charm that the GBA retains in this age, yet still can sport the new 64-bit look.
That's just my opinion. I tend to be rather picky when it comes to new games.

Phew. My first rant on the protoman.com forums. I tend to write a few of these.

Well, good to know that it's in your mind at least, and are ready to record when you want to.

I'm using version 6.0.2600.0000.xpclient.010817-1148IS.
On a note, I use a family computer, and I can't just go and change my internet version on a whim. Give me two years and I'll have my own place.

Is it at all plausible to have a megaman 5 GB section at all soon? I know you're massively busy (most likely. You probably have what the outsiders call 'lives'.) But I'd especially like it if you did, and many others would too. The final boss song is brilliant! Takes full advantage of the gameboys limited music processor.

I'll explain in more detail here.
I load overwings first comic/titlepage thing, and it opens a new window. At the bottom, which isn't visible without moving the window to the very top. I can't scroll at all, so in order to see all of it I have to shrink the window down, making most text illegible.
My question is how to make the pop-up window a scrolling one?

Thanks in advance.

Nah. That guy's gone. He's halfway across the country and has no internet. And he had to examine the cartridge for a few weeks and learn it's parts. Once he did do that,  he couldn't fix it, and I'm sure RM&F cartridges are hard to come by. He only did it to games that were crappy and didn't paly anymore. (Vortex... *shudders*)

That trick would make your job considerably easier, wouldn't it, Protoman? I think he was learning to do it to GBA cartridges when he moved....

I remember my friend had a way of turning sound effects off from SNES games with a switchblade by pricking one or two of the little metal parts in the cartridge that stick out. I would assume that would help a little...

thanks bladegash. That tip helps a bit.
Protoman, is there a way for it to open a new window that scrolls? so I can see it in full clarity and just scroll down for the rest of the comic?

Thanks in advance if you do.
