I just got banned at gamespot for telling some Final Fantasy 7 fanboy to mind my goddamned opinion, I dont like that game and kept pestering me how i was rating its graphics next to Twilight Princess, Where i was rating them to Super Mario 64, I told him the gameplay was repetitive. I doupt he listened to me anyway. So lets go ban someone for not liking my game hahaha (Probally what he was thinking)
Him: FF7 Question Time:
If you think it's boring, why did you spend 40- 100 hours. Saying that the graphics are crap is like saying that the Zelda a link to the past graphics are crap compared to those of the twilight princess, you just can't compare graphics from that long ago to recent games. Besides at the time the graphics were revolutionary, and real RPG fans will not care about the graphics, only that it is a good game.
If they ,ade a remake of FF7 for the PS3 with advent children graphics, would you like the rest of the world buy it?
ME: RE: FF7 ok
I was not comparing it to Link to the Past first of all, I was comparing to Super Mario 64, Graphic wise, And seriously I dont hate, rather i dont like it not only graphics, i spent that time on it because when i first got it, i was bored, and had few games to play, the battling got really repitive after a while. I forgot to add some things in my review, and i am not going to buy advent children, or a ps3. Now stop complaining and leave people to their goddamn opinions.
-
From what the other guy implies. It looks like you played through the game. Is this true?
-
Couldnt stand it after 400 hours, and quit
-
You know, this might be just me, but when I hate a game, I tend to not play it at all.
-
Dude, you spent way to long on that game. I was dead bored after just half an hour of playing. Least interesting RPG ever.
-
i I was under a spell that told me the game was good, then, after spending who knows how long of leveling up against the same annoying monsters that i relized how thouroly this game sucked
-

I can't count how many times that's happened to me.

But you obviously liked the game if you spent THAT long on it (More than enough to beat it, if you weren't exagerating). You just got bored of it.

I thought that FF7 was pretty dang spiffy, up until Sephiroth came around. Then it sucked. [basically, disk 1 was very fun. I love the whole escape from Midgard part....]
Then again, Descent has better graphics than FF7, and it's 3 years older......... Heh. DOS fro t3h win. *shot*
-
The PSX had very crappy graphics, even for it's time. So did Saturn (except for in NiGHTS, and even then, they weren't that great.) 32 bit graphics are just plain ugly.
-
Damn rights. Sprite based games for the PSV are grand [MM's, FFT, the like] I think Privateer and Descent's graphics are far superior than FF7's. [excluding FMV's]
-
FFIX's graphics weren't so bad...Lunar had the best graphics on the PSX tho =p
FFVII wasn't so bad...it was just...mediocore like almost everything else FF.
Graphics suck though, but graphics have nothing to do with a game.(unless it makes it so you have no idea what you're doing)
-
Yeah, that's true, however, everyone was saying it had the best graphics of all time. That just doesn't fly.
-

Yes disk one was, i emit fun but then, blah.
NAother reason i started to really dislike it was when i picked up another, older RPG, for the ps,i believe it was Saga Frontier, then i reliezed, wow. this game is much better, i dont know who has playued it and if you agree with me, but, i guess it was because, it had a lot more to it, as, ever character is practically not the same. truth be told, i spent 32 hours on the game, but then i would get all these "Oh you dont know what your talking about" crap from those people.
-
I truely enjoy FFVII (I AM DRUNK AS FUCK TOO (Georgia Tech just beat Miami)
I loved the Midgar part in Disc 1
but 400 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a little over kill, im on 47 hours for my current file
the game was revolutionary for its time (IM DRUNK AS FUCK@@@@@@@@
)

Being drunk as fuck makes your liver cry ;_;
-
If you didn't say so Herb, we wouldn't have known.
But then again, FFT > FFVII
-
Tactics was the best Final Fantasy ever, and probably should have been the final fantasy.
-
they should change the series to just FANTASY
heh, and now Im hungover as fuck
-
By 1987, declining interest in the FDS had placed Square on the verge of bankruptcy. At approximately the same time, Square designer Hironobu Sakaguchi began work on an ambitious new fantasy role playing game for the cartridge-based Famicom, inspired in part by Enix's popular Dragon Quest (known in the United States as Dragon Warrior). Sakaguchi had plans to retire after the completion of the project so he named it Final Fantasy because it was his final game. Final Fantasy was also going to be Square's final game. It's commonly believed that it was named Final Fantasy because of Square and not Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi himself has confirmed it was named because he was retiring. Either way, Final Fantasy turned out to be far from being Square's or Sakaguchi's last game. Final Fantasy reversed Square's lagging fortunes, and became their flagship franchise.
Thats how FF got the name.
-
What does FF1 have to do with FF12?
Things under the same name should be somehow connected.
-
If you didn't say so Herb, we wouldn't have known.
But then again, FFT > FFVII
Quoted for undeniable truth
-
Yes a double post, but i got banned again!!!
He wrotei read your review about FF VII and ithink your messed up and want attention.
I wrote backyou go ahead think that
and the little **** got me banned, FF7 fanboys, damn them those basterds..
-
They do that Razel. FFVII fanboys are rabid.
-
Gamespot?
Ew.
-
The only reason one would have to beat FF7 is so fanboys don't go "OMFGWTF U DIDNT GIEV TEH GAEM A CHAENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111" when you give it a bad review and so you can prove your points more efficiently.
FF7 suffers of a highly mediocre plot, that not only fails at being interesting, but also is ridden with plot holes to the point of blatant gibberish, I still see the fanboys smashing their heads agaisnt the wall trying to understand what the fuck's going on.
Character-wise, the game has boring, archetypical characters, all of them ridden with common japanese clichés, and being along the things that made me feel I was playing a very shitty anime instead of a Final Fantasy game.
Cloud was just your stereotypical emoish, angsty, antisocial amnesiac, BORING.
Tifa was your classic OMFG CHILDHOOD FEMALE FRIEND bullshit.
Aeris was just a fuggin mary sue.
Barret is a Mr. T clone.
Cait Sith had no development at all.
Vincent was an emo vampire.
Yuffie was just a whiny piece of crap that doesn't deserve being called a ninja.
Red XIII and Cid, although the only standable members of the crew, had barely any involvement with the plot, that and they weren't THAT special anyway.
I could also go on a rant of how badly developed the game's antagonist is, but I've done that already.
Oh, and to top it all, the gameplay has a horrible, HORRIBLE FLAW: Too much fucking customization.
Seriously, Materia has got to be the dumbest idea ever, so now characters can do anything and everything and have nothing especial to them? stats barely matter in this game aswell, and the only thing to tell one character from another, other than their looks is their limit breaks, which don't really matter that much as you won't be using them 90% of the time.
the difficulty in this game was highly shitty aswell, even the OMFG HARDEST BOSSES (Which the fanboys love to babble about, not capable of realizing they're pathetic) were easy as hell, especially since one of them can be beaten without it even attacking you, is that SUPPOSED to be a challenge?
The graphics of this game were so shitty they made me want to punch someone more than usual, too.
All in all, FF7 was a boring, mediocre RPG with a pathetic plot and characters with nothing unique to them, be it gameplay or personality-wise.
By the way, each and everyone of the minigames in this game sucked, FACT.
Go play FF6, FF4, and Chrono Trigger before claiming this the best game ever, you morons.
Or Super Mario RPG.
Wheee.
-
What about the Paper Mario games?
Those were awesome.
-
What about the Paper Mario games?
Those were awesome.
SMRPG > Mario & Luigi > Paper Mario
Paper Mario is way too slow paced and boring for me. Mario & Luigi, however, was suprisingly great unlike my original thoughts seeing some other company making it other than Square or Nintendo. I can't wait until the next one for DS.
-
There all good,
and NMX, you should right that review on gamespot just to piss those basterds off, if not, ok,
but i agree with you 100%
-
What does FF1 have to do with FF12?
Things under the same name should be somehow connected.
The onlything the games have in common are the sound effects. also, some jerk is named Cid.
To be honest with you, I always thought the first game was the best. Most of the "fanboys" haven't even played FF1-6.
Assholes.
-
I agree, most of the fanboys started with the crappy PSX/PS2 FF Games, most of them with the especially crappy FF7, and think everything before it is LOL CRAP CUZ ITS 2D.
And FF1 is awesome.
-
I agree, most of the fanboys started with the crappy PSX/PS2 FF Games.
Doesn't mean we can't be reformed.
-
I'm aware.
-
And FF1 is awesome.
This is very, VERY true. Why oh why did my cartridge for it have to be stolen......
-

Its out on the GBA now.
-
Bleh, I traded FF1&2 Dawn of Souls for MMZ3. I hated the new version on GBA.
As I would have thought you knew Cortez, for that old MARLITH thing long ago.
-
Dawn of Souls?
That game has a LOT of changes from the original version, and is much easier, too.
I also preffer the original 8-bit music of FF1 than the GBA remake's
*Hums Battle Scene for no reason at all*
-
The introduction of the MP system and the TOTAL lack of difficulty made it crappy to me.
I liked the new boss music, though the 8-bit versions shall forever remain supreme. And the new Garland sprite is kickass too.
That's about it, though. The utter and total lack of difficulty is what mainly killed it for me. [and the names.... feck, I HATE THE NEW NAMES. Warrior? Marlith? GAH! TOTAL CRAP! I don't even like MMZ3 that much, and I still like it WAY more than Dawn of Souls.]
The new caves don't even come CLOSE to making up for the loss.
And Chaos in Dawn of Souls was way way way way way way way way way way way way WWWWAAAAAYYYYYYY too fuckin' easy. I hated to fight him. Sheesh......
-
I don't know about oyu guys, but I like PS1 FF1 better than the original. Do you remember how slow the battles were? UGh.
Seems to me like you're too obssessed with acting superior, FFVII is NOT a bad game, in fact, it's actually pretty good; but your anti-fanboyism won't let you see any good parts.
And NMX, FF6, FF4, and Chrono Trigger are great; but there's plenty of others to consider.
Either way, some of you are too biased. And (never start a sentence with 'and') it's really pissing me off.
-
Hey, I admit that FFVII wasn't that bad. I particularily enjoyed Disk 1, it's just as soon as Sephiroth came in I started to not like it.
Another thing about FFVII I dislike is that Descent, a game that came out 3 years prior, has superior graphics than FFVII, dsicounting FMV's. At least on Descent you can see that the faces on the enemy robots are more than lines drawn on a cheap polygon. [though the music in FFVII I liked, but the balance of characters is bleh, I dun like it. They're all the freaking same, even FFVI had balance of characters, but not THAT badly.]
And let's not get FFVIII into this discussion. Ugh, I hated that one even WORSE........ [though I enjoyed FFIX, to a degree.... I liked the difference between characters immensly]
I haven't played PSX FF1, so I don't know if it's the same as Dawn of Souls or not. The battles on the NES were slow, yes, but oh well, I'm sure most of us are patient enough to put up with it.
-
An RPG can't be fun when all characters are exactly the same, even MMX: Command Mission (A game I consider rather mediocre, except for Spider) had some difference between characters.
And yes, FF7 started sucking when it went all OLOL CHAES SERPHIOTH!!!1 at which point it got bland and unentertaining.
-
Most of the game was chasing down Sephiroth....
-
Barret is a Mr. T clone.
Ruagh out roud.
-
actually, I like dawn of souls, (whatever) The remakes arent too bad. Now, my first ff was ff1, and so far my favorite is ff4, though, really, all the 8-bit and 16-bit FFs are good.
-
Most of the game was chasing down Sephiroth....
Exactly.
-
Most of the game was crap....
Exactly.
Very.

I never layed ff7 and never will because of laziness....
