Title: How has your month been?
Post by: Swiftman on July 29, 2005, 07:29:44 pm
Now that July is practically over, let's see how everyone's month has been.

Me? Well, my best friend DIED on July 1, usually among my favorite days of the year, Faris broke her leg a few days ago, and now, today, on July 29, exactly one month before my 17th birthday, Lacus has died.

That's right. You read me correctly.

Lacus died by taking a dive off of a cliff by a deep part of the river me, Kary and beforehand Faris swam in all the time. The deep part has a dropoff to it, and the other part is rather shallow

Well, Lacus dived, and she missed the deep part... She hit the rock line far too quickly... I saw that she had missed.... I swam to her, picked her up and brought her onto the shore. I set her down and looked her over.

She wasn't good. Froma  first look over I could tell she had a broken neck, broken collarbone, broken shoulders, and one could sense the internal bleeding. And.... I could feel her dying....

I hastily picked her up again and took her to the Richman's pickup truck. They tried to drive as fast as possible for the nordegg hospital, but...... it was too late...

Lacus died in my arms today. I held her until the last, as a big brother, and I almost felt her leave her tattered body behind.... It wasn't a good feeling.... I felt her rise up, heard her last words, and I almost felt her spiritual self wave goodbye at me. It didn't leave me feeling too happy, but in a way, I felt glad that I was there, to feel her saying goodbye....

I know that Lacus would have wanted you all to know this, so I told you all. Thank you.

As I sit here...reading this...crying...I remember that there's nothing I can do...

I hate it...I hate it I hate it I hate it....

Life may not be fair...but god damn it this is too much...

The last thing I remember her saying to me was 'Maybe I thought wrong about you'....

I'll never have a chance to try to fix that...I'll never have the chance to keep my promise to Faris anymore.

I hate it. And I'm sorry.....I'm sorry for this....

Trigger, I know I said it already, but I'll sya it again.

That night, Lacus did get a bit ticked at you, but I made sure that she thought about you good again. I told her all that had happened, and later that night she thought of you as a good friend again. You are a good person, Trigger, and I don't like to see people not like you. You helped me immensly when Kagemitsu died, and I won't ever forget that. If Lacus didn't like you, then I would INSURE that she would.

Just know that she left, loved by all, and she loved all that she knew. (besides the various jerks at school)

....wow....just wow.  Nobody, and I mean nobody deserves to go through this...fucking twice for that matter.  I am such a selfish little shit to say my life is going bad for any reason.  God damn, I'm really, really sorry.  I wish I got to know Lacus (and Kag) better, but I never got a chance to really talk to anyone outside the forum.  Like Trigger says, this is just too much.  She'll be in our thoughts.  I'm sorry...you don't deserve this at all, nobody does...

Don't worry, Superyoshi. Jody made me feel better. Trig and Morr helped me with Kag, and Jody helped with Lacus. Jody made me feel infinently better within 20 minutes. THAT is something virtually unheard of. Me? Recovering from something like that that fast?

Thank you, Ryu. I try..... I try and try, and sometimes it doesn't feel like enough....

I'm going to stay online, wait for Morrigan, and when she's done, I'm unhooking my computer, plugging in my Aptiva and play Privateer for a few days straight. After today, don't expect to see me online too much. (unless Morr says she's going to be online tomorrow too, in which case expect me online)

Oh, man.... Privateer.... So shiny....

I thought I had it rough, losing my best friend (US army), my great uncle (Cancer), and my entire social life (The Man), but seeing this, I realize that I was rather lucky this month.

I am so sorry to hear that.  It is just unfair that this should happen to such a nice guy as yourself Swift.  But it is even more unfair to Lacus, whose life was taken short.

I have nothing more to say...I didn't know Lacus, but, I'm sorry, I can't finish this.

I do what I can, Skull. And Patience comes naturally to those with dial-up. But it's always been a trait with me.
"And with great patience comes the kindness that follows." As my late Grandpa said quite a bit. He saw that I was a very patient person (what with 80 cousins) and he took me aside, and told me those wise words. I've found them to be true as the time went by.

Eh, double posting, but give me a break. Why?

I went to church this morning, and I came home to find 90% of my DOS games have been STOLEN!

I came home, my window wasn't shut properly, and everthing but my Lucasarts games and my Privateer CD were GONE!

Also, THEY TOOK WARCRAFT ALSO! AND LIERO, AND THEY FUCKING TOOK LIESURE SIUT LARRY!

Not jsut DOS, though. They also took: Starcraft, Fallout, Star Wars Starfighter, Nero, and Word XP. They took only software.

So, that means that the last 12 years of my gaming life has been taken in less than an hour. This is SO less than good.....

Besides lives, everything that is stolen, can easily be gotten back.

How many people do you know have a STOCKPILE of old DOS games? Something like that shouldn't be too hard to find by the police.

The best of luck to you, in the search.

Most of the floppy games were already installed, and the CD stuff can be replaced by Phex. At the moment, it's not too bad. However, I will miss those Descent floppies... And Doom, and Wolfenstein, and Master of Orion... All shall be missed....

Swift, it didn't feel right for me to reply to any of your other posts regarding these happenstances.  I'm not sure why, but it didn't, yet it's not quite the same this time.

I'm happy it happened like it did.  That's not to say I'm happy it happened, and I'm sure you didn't mistake it that way.  In my line of work, mortality is apparent.  Not only have I bourn witness to the deaths of many people, in many ways, both brutal and peaceful, but a few of those people have been the "everything"s in my life, and had they all gone at once, I would not be here, because there would be absolutely not reason to be, save vain hope, which is too meager a diet for the soul to survive on alone.  Luckily for me, I still have two old comrades still breathing (though breathing is literally quite hard for one), and my wife, who is the meaning of my life.

I've seen horrible things, that can never be removed from my mind, nor can the heart be fully healed, as those that die leave pain for the loved ones who are uncertain of what death brought them.  I'm saying this, because it's the closest thing I can do to shaking your hand tightly, or clasping your shoulder, nodding, and saying how thankful I am for you...

...that you got to be there when she died.  That you got to hold her and hear her.  That you were right there.  That though you could not stop the inevitable, you were there to meet it with her.  Death is not preventable, but both you and she were fortunate enough that you could face it.

It's too terrible a thing to face alone; your last moments of life drowned in desparation, hate, and fear, with a mind, body, and heart violated to the core.

I have known many who deserved so much more who were not spared such a death, so I am inexplicably happy for you.  As you mourn her death, at least take comfort in this one luxury that may have meant more to her than you know.

Peace be with you.

Zaijian,
Tiger

Er... ::adjusts sunglasses:: ...well yes, I am, quite so, indeed.

What are you looking at?!

Heh, just kidding.  Yes, I am.  I hope you all are as fortunate one day.

Zaijian,
Tiger

P.S. - I used to be a small-time writer, and the greatest struggle in such an occupation is finding the words to express what you truly think and feel.  This wasn't a job, it was "from the heart" as they say, but the same problem remains, but I think I accomplished what I wanted to.  Sincerity is worth.

Whenever I write, I hardly ever stop to think. I jsut write as it happens sort of, and I happen to be fortunate enought o be able to type nearly as fast as I can think up scenario's, so... Hm, let's see this theory to the test:
(this next bit is based on Snowcraft, and is from Deccus's Academy days. This is written comepletely on the spot, no prior planning came before it)

Deccus heard the wake up bell ring thorugh the entire Academy. He jumped awake immediatly at the shrill ring, and very quickly he got dressed in his coat and boots, then he left his dorm and headed for the cafeteria for some breakfast.
Walking down the hallway to the staircase, Deccus saw many other Badgers dressed and ready for breakfast. Most of them looked fairly groogy and coudln't walk in a straight line too well, but he noticed that Jaeger was quite chipper and seemed to ahve a bounce in his step. Deccus decided to inquire.
"What are you so happy about, Jaeger?" Deccus asked while he matched Jaeger's walking speed.
"I just got a letter from my little sister back at home." He said with a small jump. "It's so good to hear from people back home, isn't it?"
Deccus turned his head. "Yeah, great."
Jaeger saw Deccus's expression and knew something was wrong. "Don't you ever get letters from home, Deccus? Or were you forced to come here and your family doesn't care?"
"No no, I wanted to come here. Beleive me, I did. I couldn't stand it at home. I had to get away, and this was as good a place as any. I actually had to make all the money to send me here, forge my parents signature, and still pay the cost to fly me here."
Jaeger looked at Deccus witha  face of caring, a look that a worried friend would have. "Oh. I didn't know. Sorry if I made you bring up bad memories."
"No no." Deccus dismissed the idea with a wave of his hand. "I'm confortable with it all. I love it here. So much better than at home." The two had reached the stairs that eld down to the main floor, where the cafeteria was on. "Here I have friends, fun, better schooling, better food, I get all the things I want, even if there's no TV, and I love snow. I just really, really love snow. I love to be around it, I love to be covered in it, I'm just instantly happy when I see snow."
Jaeger nodded. "Yeah, I don't have too much snow where I live, but when i do see it, it reminds me of Christmas, and Christmas makes me happy."
Deccus sighed and lowered his head. Jaeger got the hint and changed the subject. "What day is it today? Wednesday?"
"Yep."
"HA HA! Sausage and eggs day!" Jaeger ran forward and into the cafeteria with glee. Deccus didn't quicken his pace, but rather continued on slowly, wallowing in his thoughts.
Jaeger said he had a sister on the Snowcraft force at one point. Is she older and already in the regular army? I haven't seen her around at all, and Jaeger never has pointed her out. I wonder... Deccus thought to himself as he entered the cafeteria.
Suddenly a pair of arms reached up behind Deccus and put him in a headlock.
"Gimme joor money!"
"Holly, let me go."
Deccus tilted his head and saw that it wasn't Holly pulling a prank. It was Hugge, the biggest bully on this side of the Academy.
"I said, gimme joor money!"
"Drop the speach impediment before I have to hurt you."
"Just gimme joor money and no hurt for you!"
Deccus broke his arm loose and elbowed Hugge in the kidney. "Wrong thing to say."
Hugge took the hit to the kidney with stride, still holding Deccus's neck. Hugge tightened his grip on Deccus's neck, but Deccus put a hand in between Hugge's arm and pulled his grip off of him. Hugge stepped back and Deccus spun around with fists ready.
Hugge charged at Deccus. Deccus dashed forward and hit his head on Hugge's stomach, knockig him back
"Hold it!"
Deccus turned his head and saw the local guardian Fleck striding towards them.
"What's going on here?" Fleck stood between Deccus and Hugge.
"He tried to mug me for my money." Deccus said and nodded at Hugge, who was still holding his stomach.
Fleck wheeled to Hugge. "Is this true?"
Hugge breathed a few times. "I'm... just hungry... that's all. I can't buy... my own food..."
Fleck narrowed his eyes at Hugge. "If you need money, go talk to the dispatcher and he'll put you to work. You can buy your own food then. Got it? Don't go taking other people's hard earned money."
Hugge nodded, stood up and left the cafeteria.
Fleck looked at the crowd that had gathered. "Well? Show's over. Go back to your tables!"
The crowd dispersed and Deccus entered the line to get food. He did indeed have a sum of money. He spent yesterday working for the dispatcher all day, so he was ready to eat heartily.

And, other than a bathroom break and random talks to Lazlo, that was all adlibbed, straight typing. Looks like my theory worked. I should expand on that situation more. it introduces thigns like the dispatcher and guardians...

DON'T TELL ME NMX JOINED TPH!? QUICK, PROTOMAN! WE NEED A NEW ADMIN OR MOD! Who knows WHAT he'll do here.

And writing like that can't happen very often. I'm like a field of crop, if I harvest from it too much the nutrients get sucked dry. You city slickers may not get that allusion, but it's true. I tend to get these writing bursts in which I write like a demon for an hour or two. (I hit my limit break! *shot*)

#2- Hurl insults behind my back will you? What if I turn around and stab youfrom that back...then what will you think of your foolish actions?
