FINALLY figured out how to do a direct extraction rip of the PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection! It's long overdue...
All I have to do is time the songs (grr..) and tag them...
-
And here I was trying to figure out what's up with these wacky files in the Xbox version...
-
lol. Actually, it's not entirely cracked yet.
Both PS2 and Xbox have these DATAx.AIF files. I have no idea what they are, but a nifty ap called Cube Media Player can detect Raw PS2 ADPCM data embedded in larger files, so I really don't care what Capcom's AIF files are ;)
Now, all I need is to be able to convert these files to waves, which isn't happening for some reason. They play just fine...
-
Why couldn't you've just done a Line-in recording?
-
Because I don't have a PS2, and GC doesn't have any remixed music.
-
O_o eh? Yes, it does. I have the GCN version. The only remixes that aren't there are the Complete Works remixes.
-
Oh well...
Hey Bladegash, what exactly did you do while poking around the Xbox MMAC files? Do you have an ap that can scan for Xbox ADPCM waves embedded inside a huge file? (But most Xbox ADPCM waves have their hex headers modified, like TS2 and UC2...)
-
Heh, all I did was try to open them with various archiving programs. I haven't tried any music scanning programs just yet.
-
Applause, I heard ripping from the next-gen console games are almost impossible.
-
nope, if anyone can do it, its these guys.
-
Hopefully someone can do it with Gamecube, so there can be some ROM's woo.
-
Those would be massive roms. Not dial-up friendly. (as a note, if it's from a cd game, they're called ISO's.)
-
I don't think they make 128-bit computer yet, though... I'm not saying they don't, I just haven't seen any. Well, if I ever came across them I'd be sure to pick up a Viper mod for my GCN.
-
You do that, Lazlo. I wish I could remember how I ripped the midi's from Descent. (look at the age difference between our two worlds. I work with dos, you work with the current gen consoles. *sticks tongue out* I'm like a ghetto nerd.... I don't own anything that's newer than 1996, other than a new PC.)
-
I work with dos... whenever I can. I just recently havne't been able to get more involved in a game than Tetris. Just something I can play when I'm bored and in my room. GCN's really the only console I have newer than '96, unless you count handhelds.
-
If you're bored, PLAY DESCENT! That will lick ANY form of boredom you may have.
-
Is it a long game or something I can just play for a few minutes and put down with no regrets?
-
Oh, yeah. the save system is like Save state. You can save and load anywhere.
www.planetdescent.com
that place has the 7-level demo that you can get. It works on win XP (with bad sound, mind) and works wonderful on win 98 or even just plain DOS. (NOT command prompt. That thing is not ANYWHERE near DOS. A true dos cannot run with windows at the same time. True dos must be exited from windows.)
-
*makes a DOS boot disk*
Ahh, but it's not the same...
-
No, it's not the same. Just install it in win XP, and it'll work fine. the sound will be horrid, and you can't turn at all well, but it works. (I haven't tried it with DOSbox, though.)
-
Psst... Swift, make a DOS boot disk and send me the files on it!
-
Mwehehehehe. I'd send you my special boot disk. Tanks an old dos comp far farther than a normal boot disk would. It might be a little tricky, but it REALLY TANKS THE COMPUTER UP! It lets me run QUAKE, of all things! I LIKE THAT! Normally Doom is hard enough to run, but I can run Quake jsut fine with that boot disk! And my comp is about 30 mhz behind what is recomended for Quake! w00t! I love this thing! (and no, you can't have it. It's my secondary baby....)
-
Just make a copy of it! You can do that with 3.5" floppies! ...Please?
-
Wouldn't be the same. The disk has to be tweaked in the right way to make it work. It's not just a simple copying of files that makes it as uber as it is.
(Lazlo, check your PM's. I have an important question in there for you.)
-
PMs...? Oh my!
-
Say, back to the subject on hand.... whatever it was...
-
Oh yeah... Mega Man... had, uhm... music.
-
Ever listen to Du Hast by Rammstein?
-
No... not yet.
-
i have!
but i listen to tons of german groups
go AZAD
-
Next time I see you onlie, Lazlo, i'll send it to you. Or, ask Herb for it. It'll be sent MUCH faster from him than me.
-
Actually, i'm already downloading it.
-
Good man. Du Hast has wicked intramentals. (can't understand a word of it, but it's a good song nonetheless.)
-
Yeah, those Germans usually have some pretty cool musics. Although I'm sure that opinion only exists because I listen exclusively to referred songs, and never random radio.
-
Du Hast is the only German song I listened to, actually. I can't really go looking for songs, since it would take a few hours to get one song.
-
"Du hast mich" means "You hate me"
just thought id tell you
but if you want other Rammstein songs, the next best one (for me at least) is Feuer Frei, which is on the xXx soundtrack
-
Oh... Du Hast is a hate song?
Man, I ain't listening to THAT one for a good, long time.
-
Feuer Frei (translation fire freely aka open fire) isnt much better
its about opening fire on innocents and pain (i believe) but the actual music is splendid
-
And.... take down 2 respect points for Rammstein....
-
I wonder if I sould stop the download.
-
yea their lyrics are not too good (they have a song called "Bend Over" and when they perform, they...nevermind)
but the music is awesome
-
No no, everyone should hear it at least once. The Instrumentals are awesome. (turn it up good and loud for maximum effect.)
-
That'd mean I'd have to burn it to a CD and bring it to my room... is it worth the space?
-
yea but DL a whole album, or just stick it at the end of your next CD
-
i believe it's "du hast," not "du hasst." ("you have" instead of "you hate"). the whole line is "du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt" ("you asked me, and i said nothing").
-
ah, really?
*checks* holy balls you're right, those silly Germans and their present-perfectness speech
-
i believe it's "du hast," not "du hasst." ("you have" instead of "you hate"). the whole line is "du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt" ("you asked me, and i said nothing").
Nah, Rammstein even made an english version with the lyrics "You hate me". I never liked Rammstein too much, I like that song, that's about it, heh.
-
Eeh, it was alright. I can see myself listening to it again. But... I wasn't all that impressed.
-
There are many many songs that have great music, and horrible words. That's the great thing about listening to music in a foreign language. Rap would be so much better if I couldn't understand what they're saying.
...oh right, I can't half the time anyway!
Really though, some music is too good to listen to the words. Of course, the best music has good music and words, but you all know what I mean I hope.
Aside from that, put on a mean look, and you can yell ANYTHING in either Japanese or German and sound like one pissed off dude/dudette. Try it!
Right now!
Zaijian,
Tiger
-
I have. It's fun. Anyway, I agree with you on that language barriar working for us.
-
DAS IST NICHT STACKENBLOCKEN!!!!!
-
Those Germans have a word for Everything!
-
I'm pretty sure everyone has a word for "everything"
-
Haven't you seen that Simpsons episode, Lazlo?
-
I'm sure I have, but could you be a little more clear as to which one?
-
I'm pretty sure it's the one where drugs are banned and they go to canada to get drugs.
-
Stackenblocken is a made up word used first in the Conan obrien show
