Yeah, just something to discuss. I'm sure everybody here has seen a horror movie or two. If so, what's your favorite? Or the scariest one you've seen?

Ok. Scary games AND scary movies, then. In scary games, it would be a tie between Fatal Frame and Silent Hill.

I got a list of scary games.

Clock Tower (SNES): The suspence can kill a person on this game... I hope it DOESN'T last, cuz it's... wow. Just try it. Only problem is it's too short. (you can beat it in 10 minutes if you do it right)

Abuse (DOS): There's no music to this game for a reason. You can be walking along, all normal, just an average corridor, then BAM! 50 ant enemies (not insects, FAR scarier) right surrounding you. Nothing to do but pull out the rocket laucher...

Descent (DOS): Hey, SHUT UP! If you're playing this late at night, it can give you quite a workout for the heart. (Diamond Clawbots.... Holy spit....)

Doom (DOS): Of course, GOTTA put this on the list. I haven't played Doom 3, but the old one can be just as bad. Damn, the first time I played this, at night.... Speakers loud... All alone.... Nothing but a pitol and shotgun.... Damn, I got the freaks....

Wolfenstein 3D (DOS, of course): if you can get past the archaic graphics (who can't?) This game gives you a good scare. Turna corner, BAM! Nazi right in your face. Scares the living daylights outta ya....

Ha, The Grudge scared teh crap out of me. I know a bunch of people think it's lame, but I don't know, something about that movie just gah.. scary. I don't know.

And, Resident Evil can be pretty scary as well. Silent Hill is too. Hmm, what else.. uh.. there's other ones but I'm too lazy.

Uhm... Lessie, I can't really remember a movie or game that really freaked me out... sure, they can sometimes make me jump, but that's about it.
However, I still love scary movies. I love the whole genre, whether it's a hack'n'slash, a la Friday the 13th, a suspence, a la Saw, or just anything meant to scare you, or not (a la Killer Clowns from Outer Space).
Soon to be a major motion picture!

Silent Hill really needs to become a movie. If they do decide to make a movie about it, I hope it's good.

Cool. When the first Doom came out, I thought it was scary despite how pixalated the monsters were. I was still a toddler when it came out and I caught my Dad playing it one time. That's how I found out about Doom.

Heh. I've been playing doom for years. After playing it once, I stopped for a couple years, to let my balls grow a bit. (to quote Garland)

XD
Well, I've never played Doom, from an extreme desire to not pay for things. Maybe I'll download it, but then again, probably not.

Horror moves?  Not me.  Almost all of them have plot lines and acting that insult my intelligence and tastes to a degree that they are anything but frightening.  Even though I've never seen a horror movie that scared me, if it did, I still wouldn't like it.  Why?  I don't like being scared?  I've never understood why people do.  Are their lives that boring, or have they never experienced true fear?  Anyway, American horror movies seem to suck, to put it plainly.  "Oh my god, the girl is walking backwards.  AGAIN.  Oh my, the music is getting creepier.  AGAIN.  Oh they tried to scare me but it's really just their pal.  AGAIN.  Oh their pal can't act.  AGAIN.  Why am I watching this movie AGAIN?  Oh... it's a different movie?  Who'd have guessed!"  It seems that the most frightening horror movies in America were remakes of Japanese originals.

Zaijian,
Tiger

P.S. - Try not to take any of that personally.  I really hate horror movies and decided to vent about it here.  Aren't you all lucky!  ^^

i think that very few are truly horrified at a movie

i think most go for the "surprise" kind of scaryness aka things jumping out with loud noises
