While reading a topic in the General forum, this idea for a topic hit me. Now I know a new topic from me is a rare site, and I aim to remedy that starting now.
I love the Sonic Adventure games, and Sonic Heroes was pretty damn good, but as much as I love the Blue Blur's 3D adventures, I love the old 2D Sonic games ten times more. My first encounter with the spikey speedemon was Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and I've been a huge fan ever since. As time went by, I only became an even bigger fan. I was as skeptical as the next person about Sonic Adventure, but I was blown away yet again. With the next-gen consoles on the horizion, and a new Sonic game in the making, I can't help but wonder how many people still play the classics.

3D games <<<< 2D Games
It's a well known fact.
And anyone who votes 3D seriously should just smack themsevles. I could see if this is Mario or something, whereas SM64 was a truly amazing game. The 3D sonic games are just...ok at the most.
-
I only get the 3D games mostly for the music. Because "This Machine" rocks all of you.
-
None of the good old 2D Platformers transfered over to 3D well(with the exception of Mario, kind of).
Mario, Sonic, and Megaman were all MUCH more better back in the 2D ara...everything was MUCH more better in the 2D ara.

And Zelda,^ But i nulled, i like both.

Yeah.
Although OOT and WW still owned majorly.
-
But Link to the Past kicks the crap out of both easily.
-
I voted for 2D, because me and Superyoshi share a lot in common for game tastes, and I haven't played a 3D Sonic game.

Agreed.
I also think Links Awakening kicked their asses too.
It had the best puzzles I have ever played in a Zelda game. :3

They made castelvania in 3-d which kinda pissed me off

Too bad this thread is about Sonic games. [because I'm in total agreement]

Now hold on a minute! Castlevania: Lament of Innocence was pretty good. It was fun to play and had good audio.

Two Dee. Definatly. The 3D ones didn't capture that same feeling of speed and ultra awesome that the 2D ones did. Such as when you're running in certain levels and the camera actually looses Sonic. That was awesome. Unfortunatly, not all 2D game were able to be consistantly good... there was Sonic 1-3&Kuckles(and CD), then really nothing for a while untill Sonic Advance 1, which rekindled my faith in the series. But Sonic Advance 2 and 3 made me quickly loose it again.
-
Like I said, I can't stand the 3d ones. They just don't hold any interest for me.

Sonic Spinball was a 2D game.

Hm? A poll that Bladegash didn't mess with? Oh wait, it's not made by Byte.... heh.

Quoted for truth.
BTW, Who voted for 3D? I may adree (for reasons that will remain my own), but the 2D's pwned all others.

I just got Castlevania Curse of Darkness, and it is so umbeleivably awsome that anyone one who disses it is going to get rattailed *shot*
