I have a stupid Idea, just hear me out:
We've gone to the moderators and administrator of TPH for a lot lately, but seperately, we don't wield much authority. We have almost no power as members only, and it seems that the mods and admin won't listen to us without more support. Therefore, I propose having a council of three to represent the members of TPH. With the council of Three, they would be able to go to the admin or any mod and be able to speak for all the members. We would hear all complaints and ideas, discuss them amongst ourselves, and, if we feel it's worthy of mod or admin attention, we propose the idea to the forum management. And, as members ourselves, we would wield more power than just going as we are now.
The above poll will run until Fri. On Tue., I will review the results, and in the "About TPH" forum, I will start the nominations and vote tallying. People will be elected by vote to a lifetime appointment, or until you decide to resign.
Rules:
1) You must have a post count of 500 or more.
2) You must have been a member for six months or more.
3) You cannot nominate more than one person.
4) Once you make a nomination, you cannot change your mind, unless it's yourself you nominated.
5) All campaigning is to be done in the designated thread ONLY! There will be no mention of it in other threads or forums.
6) NO SPAMMING IN THE CAMPAIGN THREAD!
I will listen to your comments and poll votes before I move any further. Also, there will be NO NOMINATIONS until I have reviewed the poll results. I think this could really help this board out, and we could have some real fun with this. So sound off! Waddaya think?

So you're basically trying to set up a government-esque system. Great idea, but you'll never pull it off. A prime example of this is the US Government, systems, laws, rules, and common sense- but we still ended up with a fucking retard for a President. It will fail.

Not government, representation. I just want it to be so that when we email the mods, they can't ignore it because it's only one guy/girl.

Just because we elect three people doesn't mean their going to listen to us.

...Why not just make a report forum, or have more than one person complain to the mods instead of one? You don't need power. Besides it's not like Bladegash and Protoman come around here anymore.

This poll is a failure. You do know that if you PM Protoman, he should receive an email saying he received a PM, and then he can respond to it in due time? And a 500 post count doesn't prove much at all.

I think it's a good idea. In general I mean. Seems like you really thought this through, but who is to say that it will work? It will take some time, and some effort, but I think that it's worht a shot! Especially if it will help the forums out. You can count me in. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

The fact of the matter is, you can ALREADY contact Protoman by sending him a PM. ANYONE can do it, and it wouldn't matter who, he would still at least check it out. This council of three thing probably won't work at all, especially when you've got such silly rules in that first post there.
Reasons why this will fail:
-Lifetime appointment. What if that person changes, or fails to mention he's resigning before disappearing?
-500 post count. A lot of people who truly DO care about TPH have post counts far less than that. Protoman barely has 500; Bladegash doesn't even have 500 at all. You want our only mod to not be able to participate or something?
-The entire triumvirate thing. All goes to hell when there's a triumvirate, as we see in history. And history repeats itself.
-Again, the PM email notification system. If you PM Protoman and/or Bladegash, if they care or if they can respond, they will do so.
-How will this triumvirate be able to contact Protoman and Bladegash better than one of us?
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Hmmmmm...both sides have compelling arguments. Seems to me that all we REALLY need is a couple more mods, if anything. All that other stuff is much too complex for both myself and Yami.

NeotheOne just shot down every flaw in the theory.
Even if we did appoint a so-called representative I doubt Protoman would even notice. Or care.

Herb is the most likely one to be able to get a response and he hasn't gotten much.

Eh, well, last time I contacted him to integrate my new DDR rips into the TPH download system, it took him about 10 days to respond. In any case, the flaw with this proposed system is that.. this council of three won't be able to contact him much differently from any other normal user. Herb, how long ago did you contact him?
*In any case, as stated before, all we truly need is another mod or two. Just to excersise the power of locking runaway threads when necessary, and stuff like that.

The council of three thing, though a good idea, wont change much. Its true, what we really need are some mods here to regulate this madness.

It's just an idea, and every idea has flaws.
Plus, if protoman and Gashy have indeed abandoned us, we need to police ourselves.
I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's worth a shot.

This will be my last 2 cents about this cause i don't know what is really goin on but like i said if it helps the site then do it, what the hell, i mean what's the negatives here, if it doesn't work then what happened? U just wasted some time no big deal, Byte says stupid idea, i say great ides. if it works it works, if not then oh well, what the batch? It was worth trying i say.

It really doesn't make sense, I mean we don't need a council to PM protoman, and a bunch of regular members without power can do nothing except harass the members that need to be moded. What we need is a mod, and an admin.

Well, the vote is 11 yes, 4 no. So we will hold elections for them next week. I say we make this an unofficial thing right now, but if we like it, we make it official later. If not, no harm done. Cool?
