Title: smash bros 64 music
Post by: the_broom on April 22, 2005, 10:19:45 am
Is there any chance of someone (neotheone, maybe) to do super smash bros for N64 music? I know there's a couple in the SSBM section, but it lacks my favorite one (brinstar, in particular)

Super Smash Brothers is virtually impossible to line-in record.  Even more impossible than recording Rockman and Forte.  You can't turn off sound effects, the start of every game has 3, 2, 1 go and applause, and although I could borrow a friend's SSB, I don't actually own the cartridge.  And filtering out the teleport sound in R&F was bad enough for Protoman.  Filtering out a bunch of COMMOTION would never work...

If you REALLY want the song, check here http://www.halleyscometsoftware.com/usf/.

There must've been an OST released somewhere, because I was able to find around 7 or so MP3s of SSB from Limewire.

There was an OST.  It wasn't complete though, and included as compensation four "club" remixes that weren't very good.  I don't deem the SSB OST to be worthy of me uploading though ;)  Someone else will have to do that...

What do you mean you can't record SSB music? There is a sound test you know. ;) I really want Metal Marios Stage music, No.39 in the list. XD

..there is?  I thought the N64 version didn't have a sound test, and only SSBM for GC had one...

SSBM HAS A SOUND TEST?!?! Damn I haven't unlocked it yet then. -.-;;;

But yes SSB does indeed have a sound test. Apperantly whoever you borrowed your SSB game from was half-assed (no offense) and didn't unlock it.

Heh, this topic sure was confusing until the Sound Test was mentioned.

wow..

Well, how complete is the Sound Test?  More than 39 tracks, obviously...

I'll borrow that and have that done with within a week.

All the music, sounds, voices, and everything. =^-^=

Theres 45 tracks of music, including the Starman music, and hammer music. All the ending sounds, you know like if Link wins his match its that music. Its got basicly everything from the game.

Too many sounds and voices to count.

I just fell in love with Metal Marios for some reason. I used to just go through story mode just to fight him. XD

SSBM also includes voices in the sound test, you know.  The Narrator has 89 files alone, and EVERY character has lots of files, too...

Naturally, I'm not going to record the voices, even though some of them are hilariously funny because of how they're pronounced...

you go insane after that much of the hammer song? Is that the secret?
Title: smash bros 64 music
Post by: Herb on April 27, 2005, 01:36:37 pm
nah that happens about 10 minutes into it.

Even if the secret was a password for an internet website which would give you $1,000,000,000 I still couldnt do it

I could do it. I'm known in my town for my legendary patience. I deal with a LOT of little kids, and I can put up with Barney, of all things. Broom goes absolutley insane and he runs screaming from the room if Barney is on.

C'ept my friend Garland. His patience is pretty nil. He can't stand listening to the same song for more than five minutes. (as a result he hates puzzle games that take a while to solve and some platform games.)

I find it hard to believe that he still couldn't sit through it for a BILLION dollars

Nope. He sure couldn't. Besides, money isn't the biggest thing on his want list. He has what he wants, and he's satisfied. (some money for more metal would be good. He loves to forge weld in his blacksmith shop. He's pride is his 1.5 meter long sword and a suit of armor that looks exactly like Garland from Final Fantasy 1. (wonderswan version, not NES)

Okay, I just got SSB from my friend yesterday, and I had to do about 3/4 of the 1 and 2 Bonuses (he already unlocked all 12 characters, thank god).  I JUST finished the bonuses, and I am now starting to record the 45 songs.  Patience, folks...

Oh yeah, just in case you didn't read my PM, or for anyone else who cares:

I'm going on a nice little vacation :)
Title: smash bros 64 music
Post by: neothe0ne on May 01, 2005, 08:28:40 am
Hmm.. how should I put this.. I'm back early from vacation because I forgot something ;)

In addition the list above, Lego Star Wars (PC) is 95% done and will be up shortly (it, too, is in Ogg Vorbis).  Lego Star Wars contains basically all the good music from Episodes I, II, III, and a part of IV, so I've bypassed the movie-not-game rule!  Ha! ;)

Star Wars Republic Commando (PC) (Ogg Vorbis) has just been started, and will be done sooner or later.. it's got some really sweet music, like the song "Clones" by the band Ash.

Okay, so Lego Star Wars is done... and I lied some more..

Ripping CDs is just so easy.. forgive me :)

Halo 2 OST Vol. 1 and Guild Wars OST are now up as well as all the other stuff.

When are all these songs going to be uploaded? I'm itching for some of them. (or a lot of them)

Also, how do you do that cd rip thig? Just find the seperate files in the cd, or if they're absent can a program rip them?

Post by: neothe0ne on May 05, 2005, 11:25:48 pm
Use a program like Exact Audio Copy.  You can't just copy files off of Audio CDs, as there aren't any music files to directly copy...

Oh, and I think that list needs to be updated again ;)

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (PC)
America's Army (PC) [One song]
Final Fantasy VII (PC) [3 sets of MIDIs]
Guild Wars OST (CD)
Half-Life: Counter-Strike (PC) [One song]
Halo 2 OST & New Music Vol. 1 (CD)
Lego Star Wars (PC)
Final Fantasy VII (PC) (General Midi)
Final Fantasy VII (PC) (Sound Blaster AWE)
Final Fantasy VII (PC) (Yamaha Softsynthesizer)
Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition [One song]
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
Super Smash Brothers (N64)
TimeSplitters 2 (Xbox ADPCM direct extraction, to replace my GC line-in recording)
Unreal Tournament (PC)
Unreal Tournament 2003
Unreal Tournament 2004
WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC)
WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne (PC)

Others' Rips/Recordings:

The OST is FAAAAAAAAAAAAR from complete.

No offense meant ;)

(The Sound Test isn't complete either, it's missing a single song, the Character Select theme, which I also recorded)

Post by: Swiftman on May 07, 2005, 10:05:23 pm
Hey, I thought you were leaving for King's Island today.

And how did you record the character select music if it always has the "Choose your character" dialogue?
Title: smash bros 64 music
Post by: neothe0ne on May 07, 2005, 10:10:07 pm
I left Friday morning and came back this night about half an hour ago.

For the Character Select music, I simply deleted the first loop of the song, thus eliminating the stupid "Choose your character!" voice.
