i've written a document that should clarify some things for people:
http://genesisaudio.protoman.com/

Wow, that must have taken a long time to write. So, can you do a GameBoy audio comparison between GB, GBP, GBC, SNES GB, GBA, GBA SP, GCN GBP, and DS? ;)
-
Nice job, Protoman! But where's Genesis 3 (The rare, smaller version of Genesis released in 1999)? I have it, but I don't have A/V cables for it.
-
at the time that i did the original subjective analysis, i also tested a genesis 3, and it was very close to a genesis 2, iirc. i will have to get one somehow and add its results to the page eventually.
as for the gb stuff, i did a subjective test of those when i was doing the mm gb recordings, and the game boy player won. i guess i could do a page for those, as well, but imo it's not as big of a deal (the difference in quality is not as humongous as with the genesises).
-
You mean the Game Boy Player for GameCube, right? If so, I need to get one of those...
-
yes. don't ask me how an ac powered device won, but it did. i guess maybe they've been cleaning up the circuitry with every release (putting things more into single ic's), and that keeps the noise down. probably the same reason the nomad sounds so good.
-
Wait, you're saying battery-power sounded better than being plugged into an outlet??
-
one would think, right? i mean, dc power would be cleaner than having to transform it, and then relying on the transformer to produce clean dc and not interfere with everything and its mother. that was my thinking, anyway.
-
Battery powered consoles usually have less background noises (eg: GBA has almost no background noises to it's music, but that was almost all of the Genesis's music.)
-
uhhh...I didn't understand a word of that but i got the general idea, but i can understand the battery thing. It's to my understanding( FUZZY ) say that maybe there's too much electricty and it might make a minuet static sound like when the CD is playing with the VOL too loud inbetween tracks you hear a static sound. Right?
-
right. it has a very distinctive sound.
-
Just asking how much does an ad on an inernet site pay?
-
the google ads on tph got me $19.59 last month. i can't tell you much about things other than google.
-
i guess the google thing works bothways huh?
-
i don't advertise on google ... tried it once with sda (http://speeddemosarchive.com/) and it bombed so badly. worst $5 i've ever spent.

LOL nice just a thought but maybe one of the media player COs might want there softwear on TPH just, a thought don't put much thought into it.
