I agree with a lot of this list.

And the last statement is just damn true, next one to say "LOL VIDEFGAMAE MUSICZ ISN'T REAL MUSICK LIEK LOL LOL COLDPLAY LOLZZZ" gets kicked in the nuts.

Either way, my favorite Videogame soundtrack ever would have to be FF6's (Fanboyism? Maybe, shut up.). Nobuo Uematsu's genius truly shines in this masterpiece of a soundtrack, with incredible songs like Dancing Mad, Kefka's theme, Terra's theme, Aria di mezzo carattere, Sturm's th- Nevermind, Sturm is from another game.

2. Starcraft (PC)
3. One Must Fall (DOS)
4. Privateer (DOS)
5. R-Type 3 (SNES)
6. Unreal Tournament (PC)
7. Earthworm Jim (Genesis version)

Ahh, a long, very violent topic on one of my fave subjects, VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS!! ^_^

I think in this order it goes

Final fantasy 7 (full soundtrack, even the cheap ass fanfare)
Ecco tides of time (do we have ANY other ecco fans?)
  Final fantasy 9 (some tracks)
Fatal frame (can someone tell me where the music is? but it still had a music list unlock and.. its pretty cool.. OFF TO FIND THE SOUNDTRACK!!)
Castlvania (ok I dont know if it counts as a fave or not but the tune of bloody tears gets catchy if you hear all 4/5 tph version best quality to lowest in order every half an hour as ONLY sound in the whole house)
Varias other ecco tracks (EXCEPT for ecco jr.. stupidest game EVER!)
   And lest we forget

ALL CHOCOBO SONGS IN BLOODY EXISTANCE!
Rock on

I find often that people like the songs often for the context in which they were played instead of the song itself. With that being said I can say that I have played so many genesis games that I would have to say I like Ecco: The Tides of Time or any of the sonic games most. As far as music composition, Nobou Uematsu has outdone most people by far.

Does anyone know anything of the Shadow of the Colossus OST?

I'll have to say you're wrong [for me at least] on that one.

I recall when I downloaded most the Mega Man songs off of TPH, I hadn't played many of the games (and if I did, I didn't get very far), so I ended up hearing the songs for almost all the Mega Man games before I even got remotley far in them (I was never good at Mega Man games until I really got into the series in 2003)

Plus, as a kid, I'd always listen to the sound test options off my Genesis games.  I remember listening to Sonic 2 and Dynamite Headdy songs A LOT, even before I got to their designated levels.

And yes, Tides of Time had an awesome soundtrack (Although I have yet to hear the Sega CD version, which I've always wanted to do)

Title: Your favorite soundtrack(s)
Post by: Superyoshi on January 09, 2006, 06:54:59 pm
Well, I wouldn't say "simply not true".  There ARE exceptions.  Such as "Inside the Deku Tree" from Ocarina of Time.  Stupid song, yet I love it because it reminds me of when I first got the game.  Same goes with most of the songs from Bomberman Hero, even though it had a great soundtrack, listening to it brings back memories of a friend whos house I always used to go to to play the game.

I'm just saying it's not true that people only like video game music because of the good times they remember.

Post by: Laminate on January 09, 2006, 08:28:47 pm
My apologies,

I hadn't intended to imply that was the only underlying factor. And certainly less so with videogames. I was making the comment in general. Anyone can appreciate any kind of music. Specifically at my job, though, the music  genres change between managers. It goes by time periods that are related to the times in which they grow up. But you could play the same song remade maybe five years ago and they wouldn't care.

I found what you said about listening to something I never played before to be true too. FFX inspecific.

I will have to not generalize in the future. Or maybe just write simplified posts.

Final Fantasy 8
Armored Core: Master of Arena
Fire Emblem

They all have good music, but my all time favorite would be Kirby 64.

Damn! I forgot the Paper Marios. The first Paper Mario has the most godly soundtrack. It beats Kirby 64.

You missed F-Zero.

Also, never use bold to make words stand out. It's bad grammar.

You forgot the comma after no.  You spelled grammar wrong.  Also, police is a plural noun, so the correct word to use would have been have as opposed to has.
