Segregation / Re: Wow, did this place finally die?
« on: August 11, 2008, 11:44:00 am »
my last vist was in april.

May.

Yeah, what sucks for me is that back in March I went to a lot of trouble and effort to rip the music from Mega Man X5 and X6 for someone who had requested it (extra long tracks, as I recall)--and after uploading them at last, I see that he still hasn't logged in since before I put them up.

A shame, that was my first ever rip too, and it went to waste.  :'(

The most underrated game in all of Mega Man?

Discuss.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm allowed to do this or not, but here is my own rip of X5 and X6 from the PS2 version of the X Collection, the looping tracks being at least 5 minutes long in X5 and at least 6 minutes long in X6 (probably intentional on Capcom's part, haha). Oh, and pardon my peculiar way of listing track titles and my otherwise complete lack of additional info (composer, etc.)--feel free to modify the tags as you see fit. I also threw in some bonus tracks on X5 not used in the actual game, which I grabbed from the OST hosted on another Mega Man site. With all that out of the way, here's the download:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OC0LY6SM

Also, every track in both rips are in stereo except for Virus Stage 2 in X5 (or as I like to call it "Sigma Virus Theme"), which curiously was only available in mono in the list of audio tracks extracted from the game disc itself. So if it sounds a teeny bit off compared to the other tracks, that's just how it came. I didn't find it particularly glaring, though, fortunately.

(Oh, and protoman--if this isn't allowed, feel free to delete this post.  :P)

General Games / Re: What are you playing?
« on: February 25, 2008, 07:59:13 am »
Last fall, I did a huge Mega Man marathon, first playing all the way through MM1-8 on Anniversary Collection, along with Power Battle and Power Fighters, before moving on to Mega Man & Bass. After that, I hit the X series, playing through X1-X8 (the first six played on X Collection) along with Xtreme 1 and 2. I also dabbled in Maverick Hunter X as well. Then more recently, after the holidays, I finished off MHX for real, then played Command Mission and after that Battle & Chase on the X Collection. That pretty much does it for me for now!

I'm thinking about going back and playing through MM1-6 again, this time on MMAC's Navi Mode, just to see the differences. Of course if I do, I'm putting those games on Easy Mode; there's no way in Hades I'm going through MM1 again in so-called "Normal" Mode!

Eventually, I'll get around to the Game Boy Mega Man games, but for now I'm pretty much done with the series. Later in the spring, I have some Zelda games I'm going to play through: Ocarina of Time's Master Quest, Link's Awakening (the original black and white version), Phantom Hourglass, and Link's Crossbow Training.

Meh, it was alright. The original MMX on SNES was where it's at, though!

Music / FMV musical rips?
« on: November 28, 2007, 08:54:06 pm »
I know numerous Mega Man games (MM8, X4, etc.) have FMV's in them. Is it possible to rip just the background music from those FMV's without taking all the voice dialogue and sound effects with it? In the case of some games (e.g. X3, X4, X7) it's not an issue since Capcom released OST's for those that gave us just the FMV music, none of the rest of the clutter. I was chagrined, however, to see that they completely left the FMV's out of the X8 OST, since that game arguably has the best FMV music. (Indeed, it's some of the best music in the game.) So I'm wondering if it's at all possible to rip FMV music without anything else in it, just the BGM? If so, here's a list of all the FMV musics I could think of that I'm lacking (and I'm sure others are too):

- X8: Prologue (Orbital Elevator accident)
- X8: Prologue (X meets Lumine)
- X8: Sigma's transmission to Maverick Hunter HQ (I think this happens after defeating the 8th and final Maverick stage.)
- X8: Lumine confronts the Maverick Hunters after Sigma's death
- X8: Speech about going "maverick at will" between the two Lumine battles
- X8: Epilogue (Maverick Hunter HQ contacts concerning Axl's injury)
- X8: Epilogue (X/Zero's individual endings--it's the same music for both)
- X8: Epilogue (pondering questions of evolution on the elevator ride down)
- X8: Epilogue (Axl's mysterious ending--I think there's BGM in there, it's hard to tell)

- MHX (i.e. Maverick Hunter X): Opening Demo
- MHX: X's Prologue (Sigma's apparent attack on the city)
- MHX: Vile's Prologue (Sigma releases Vile from prison)
- MHX: X's Ending (Dr. Light's message and staff credits)
- MHX: Vile's Ending (getting pwned by X and Zero)
- MHX: Day of Sigma 1 - Going Beserk
- MHX: Day of Sigma 2 - Hunter Base
- MHX: Day of Sigma 3 - Investigation
- MHX: Day of Sigma 4 - Missile Base

- MM8: Prologue (robots in space fall to earth)
- MM8: Duo awakens and leaves Dr. Light's lab
- MM8: Duo rescues Mega Man in front of Wily Tower
- MM8: Epilogue (Mega Man's recovery and Duo's thanks)

Music / Minor MMX Rip Requests
« on: November 28, 2007, 08:12:18 pm »
I don't know if this is still allowed, but here goes:

I'm looking for just a few rips from some of the Mega Man X games. They're all pretty much the Capcom logo fanfares that play just before the title screen in X3 (PS/Saturn version), X4, X5, and X6.

The last one I'm looking for is a rip of the staff credit theme from X7 called "Lazy Mind." I'm not looking for the one from the OST, though, since it has a whole bunch of lyrics in it that were not in the actual game (even the "karaoke" version still has a few singing parts left in, unfortunately). I was just hoping someone could rip that from the game's staff credits itself.

I was told that neothe0ne is who to ask for PlayStation rips, but I noticed on his profile that he hasn't been on since June. So I'm pretty much asking whoever is willing to oblige me.  ;)

Actually, I've found Vile at Noah's Park before beating all 8 Mavericks before. I don't know what exactly triggers that battle, though (nor any of the other mid-level Vile battles).

Music / X3 Ending
« on: October 12, 2007, 11:31:55 pm »
Similar to the X6 topic someone posted on here, I noticed a change in X3 too. I have the soundtracks to both versions of MMX3, the SNES and PSX versions (both from TPH if I recall). But the ending music (when X and Zero are running along the highway as the cast is scrolled) is vastly different on the X Collection (I have the PS2 version) than what I have on my soundtracks.

Does anyone know anything about that?

Mega Man X3 (on the X Collection), after which I'll play through the two Xtreme games before moving on to X4.

I honestly don't know why you'd want watered down versions of sweet SNES synth in the first place.

Y'know, I was thinking the same thing at first, but then when I actually heard the Xtreme 2 soundtrack, I thought it was the coolest thing to hear 8-bit versions of these already familiar tunes! So now I want to hear the Xtreme 1 version.  ;D

And to answer the by now obvious question, no, I haven't played them before, but I'm going to play them both very soon. Looking forward to it.

But at any rate, if you see this protoman, that'd be awesome if you could add the Xtreme soundtracks to your already impressive home page collection!  :)

I didn't see either of the MM Xtreme games on the main page. Could anyone upload the MP3's for Xtreme 1? (I already have Xtreme 2, but that might be good to upload for others who don't have it yet, though!  ;D)

Thanks!

Music / Re: Mega Man X Command Mission

Well, since this old topic has been bumped, I suppose it's fortunate since I can't find Mega Man X: Command Mission on the main Protoman site. Does anyone know where I can find and download this soundtrack nowadays? Thanks!
