Everyone in Wily's Castle lugged around. They were bored.
Pharaoh Man bonked a paddleball, missing frequently. "Whadda you wanna do?" He asked. Gravity Man played "Mega Man IV" on the Game Boy. "I dunno. Whadda you wanna do?"
Gemini Man kept duplicating. "We dunno," Gemini and his clones said simotaneously.
"Wanna terrorize the innocent?" Top Man suggested. Everyone thought for a while. "Naaaahh." Everyone droned. "Wanna turn buildings upside down?" Gravity Man said. Everyone thought. "Naaaahh." They repeated. "Wanna play Poker?" Ring Man asked. Everyone thought. "Naaaahhh." They said once again.
"I will tell you what you will do," A voice said out of the darkness. "You will build the ultimate weapon for me."
Everyone thought for a long time. "Naaaahhhh."
He held up an explosive device. "Do as I say!"
Tbe Robot Masters toiled and slaved on one weapon. One singular weapon.
"This is all it needs," Spark Man said. He raised his electrodes up, and sparked the small handgun. Snake Man took it and handed it to the Shadow.
The Shadow came into the light. It was Ballade. "Perfect!" Ballade cried. "Now, to test it..." Ballade thought. "HEY, QUINT!" He called. Quint looked back.
And Ballade fired the handgun. A red ray emitted from the gun and hit Quint. Hit produced a very large hole, and Quint's robot ribs could be seen. His armor started to erode very quickly, ultimately ending with a red-tinted skeleton.
"Yes!" Ballade cried. "Now you will make dozens of these, and make some rifles."
Everyone bustled. They knew what power Ballade had now, and they were not about to have it tested again.
Dr. Light felt a strange evil fall upon his thoughts and seemed uneasy.
Mega Man held his hand. "Father? Is everything OK?"
Dr. Light smiled. "Yes, Rock, everything is.... fine."
Suddenly Roll cried out, "Father! Rock! Look in the streets!"
They did. Red and green robot skeletons lay grimly oln the sidewalks, and Robot Masters holding guns and rifles, firing wildly.
Light rubbed his head. He had a headache the size of Mount McKinley.
"It's the guns," Mega Man said. "They must destroy the robots!"
"Of COURSE it's the guns!" A voice said from behind them. It was Protoman.
"Protoman? What're you doing here?" Rock was stunned.
"Rock, these guns are threatening the robot race. I have to stop it," Protoman answered.
"No way!" Mega Man answered back. "You could be destroyed!!"
Protoman sighed heavily. "I... I have to take that chance." He then teleported away. He reappeared on the streets. He blasted Wood Man and Dust Man with his blaster and stole their guns. He reappeared at the lab and threw Mega Man a gun. Then they teleported to the street. Protoman was fighting Gravity Man. He used his shield to block a gun blast, and it instantly vaporized. "You wanna piece of me??" Protoman cried as he blasted Gravity Man into oblivion.
Mega Man suddenly noticed Ballade was aiming for Doctor Light! He jumped toward his creator and when the ray neared, an eplosion occurred. Dust flew everywhere.
Was Mega Man Okay?
Everyone crowded around the debris. And there lay Mega Man.
Protoman rushed up to him. "Hey, bro, you OK?"
"F-Fine, I guess..." stammered Mega Man. He told that as he jumped toward Light, he had, too, fired his gun, which reacted with Ballade's shot and it exploded.
He was alright.
Rock stood up, brushed himself off, and said, "Ballade, this is it."
Ballade and Rock walked around, following each other's steps, not leaving each other's gaze. "To think I saved your life," Ballade scowled. "A mistake you'll regret," Mega Man returned. Both would fire occasionally, only it to be destroyed by the other's shots.
Not even Protoman could keep from looking. Suddenly Toad Man came from behind and hit Protoman with the butt of his gun. Protoman was flung into the fight and Rock fired as Protoman passed Ballade. An explosion. When the debris cleared, all they saw was a skeleton. Who was it?
"It was Ballade," Light told everyone. "Notice the boomerang-like object on the skeleton's forehead."
"But what's this?" Rock said as he picked up a yellow object. It was a torn scarf.
The Robot Masters immediately surrendered. They then teleported away. One Master had dropped the weapon's plans. Later, Light destroyed the guns and their plans.
Rock held the scarf with all his strength.
Meanwhile, Protoman stood on the roof of a building.
He sighed deeply. "All is well..."
"For now."
