General Games / The Revolution SDK costs... wait for it....
« on: February 23, 2006, 04:12:22 pm »
Yeah, I meant to link to that IGN article where I got this news from.  It's remarkably cheap, especially when it's going to be a fraction of the price of a PSP devkit, which is a fraction of the price of a 360 or PS3 devkit...

-Merril Lynch expects PS3 to be delayed 6 to 12 months from spring 2006 release date
-Merril Lynch expects PS3 cost to approach $900
-Merril Lynch assumes that after taking losses like Microsoft, PS3 will cost $699
-PS3 games are far from complete
-Sony stock falls
-Tokyo stock market rocked by news
-Sony Japan denies report
-Sony America all but confirms report

-Movie studios cutting production of UMD movies
-Only comedy genres will receive UMD releases now
-Clearly contradicting their standpoint on "true HiDef", Sony will plan to release an adaptor to play UMDs on your TV

Various sources:
-ATRAC3 audio format is far inferior to the latest version of LAME (MP3)

Sony is failing in the console market, handheld market, and audio market.  In my experience Panasonic HDTV's can be bought for less money than Sony HDTV's which look the same.  When will Sony tank?

General Games / Damn you, Capcom
« on: February 17, 2006, 11:05:32 pm »
To tell the truth, I'm just about on the verge of never buying a new Capcom product again.  With the current Resident Evil, Mega Man, Street Fighter, etc., I doubt I'd be missing anything new they're making.  (Revolution will be a special exception, if the game isn't a simple port).  They just keep on rehashing, which would be fine by itself, but a lot of the time quality control goes down (X6 design FTL) or they choose the wrong platform.

You were the chosen one!  You were supposed to defeat Sony, not join them!

Does Capcom hate money or something?  They seem determined to keep their games from selling as much as they can by putting them on platforms without fanbases for their products.  UMDs have now been proven to phail at movies, music, and games, but Capcom and UMD seems to fit...

General Games / Capcom to reveal Revolution games in mere days...

Trust me... Sony and Microsoft won't even exist at E3 this year.  That's how much Nintendo's going to own the show.

If I don't see a Mega Man Legends 3, a new Street Fighter, an exclusive Resident Evil, a Viewtiful Joe, and a Capcom vs SNK game, I might cry... okay, I was kidding.  But if I don't see MML3, I'll be sorely disappointed.

General Games / Mega Man for Revolution?
« on: February 08, 2006, 07:21:08 pm »
In an interview with Jeux-France, Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team producer Takeshi Horinouchi and director Tsukasa Takenaka were asked about the Revolution.

Mr. Horinouchi said, "I indeed had the chance to quickly test Revolution, and I must say that it is interesting to note the evolution in this field. The perception of the video game is completely new. Concerning Megaman, we do not know yet what the future holds for us, but I would very much like to use the concept of Nintendo Revolution to see what a Megaman game could be on this console."

What is in store for Mega Man on the Revolution? Stay tuned to Atomic Fire for more details as they come!

You can read the full interview (in French) here.
