Ridiculous development (In an end he didn't even have a reason to want to destroy the world, since he KNEW he wasn't an ancient), little screentime, Oedipus Complex, overall clichÃ© anime villain, barely spoke to the party in general just to cloud, stupid design, didn't have any good dialogue nor any dialogue previous to the final battle, lack of any success whatsoever as a villain, etc.

And FF7's gameplay was killed by lack plot that made playing interesting and too much customization.

It's boring, that's what's wrong with it. It was a boring game that for whatever reason people think it's mana from God. It gets annoying.

You can call most RPG's boring. FF4 was boring as hell for me... I can make fun of it pretty easy despite it being a classic.
Cecil is all Like Oh noes I'm a bad guy and then he meets a Summoner who died, but didn't really die Plus an old guy who sacrifices himself. Oh, and some kids who sacrifice themselves, and some ninja guy.

What did that guy do? Oh yeah, sacrificed himself for the team. -_-
And this was all within like 15 -20 hours of gameplay. Then my game got erased because my memory card blew up. That kinda sucked.

Give me examples dammit! The fact that other people like it is null; millions of people love Mark Twain's books and they're pretty good. Don't use popularity as the first reason to hate something (it can be a reason though I suppose).

Your reasons for hating Sephiroth seem to lie solely on hating Sephiroth, in the big picture, he was really kind of pawn. That's the way the plot works; NMX, I could use half your examples as reasons to hate anything if I spole vaguely enough.

Since when is customization a bad thing? Because it supposedly ruins character development that you force yourself to hate? Because thinking a little about the materia system is bad? At least admit that the music kicks ass if nothing else, it has one of the better soundtracks for an RPG.

In the end, I don't really care all that much. I just think you need to understand what a bad game is. Play Beyond the Beyond or Chocobo's Dungeon if you want a bad game. FF7 can be considered average at worst.

Popularity is a terrible reason to hate something. But popularity despite the game being boring is. Now, there are plenty of boring RPGs. In fact, most of the Final Fantasy games are boring! However, you don't see those other RPGs with fanboys who get people banned from places for giving a review that tells it like it is.

It makes every character the same, the ONLY unique thing every character in FF7 had was the limit breaks, which you don't use most of the time since they need the limit bar to fill up.
